It is unacceptable for anyone to take off with your dog regardless of the reason. I would be really upset just as you are. I do hope sweet Maverick is ok and you are reunited soon.

I highly suggest ANYONE loaning a car to put a tracker like an AIRTAG in the car. Maybe even on the dog! We have AirTags in both of our cars - you never know!
Nah. I don’t have air tags on either and not going to either. Not sure why OP had such poor luck (and not their fault, totally annoying the posters either making jokes or trying to blame them) but it’s not the normal situation, at all.
I hope THS steps up to provide their information on this sitter, and OP is reunited with their dog soon.
He had 12 5 star reviews and he was really good for 2 months. But he went missing with my Maverick and my car 49 hrs ago. And still no contact. I just got word he took a job at a local golf club bar as a bartender. But he has missed the last 2 days of work there.
Good. It helps to maintain a positive frame of mind and not assume the worst. Expecting the worst accomplishes nothing but will increase your stress unnecessarily.
I pray for your pup and your car to be returned to you, especially your pup safe and sound. I am so sorry this happened to you. He has sat for me before and it was an excellent sit. I do think some sort of mental health issue might be at hand as this is a shock (and out of character from when they sat for me…) I truly pray for your pups safety and the sitters.

So the sit was ended on 4th April. Looks like someone has been in contact with the sitter. Hope the dog has been returned.

I wish some people would read the thread before making comments and asking questions when the answer was like two posts back! Is it really that hard? Maybe for some.
Sit was adjusted to end on 4th so I have legal justification in Colorado to claim my property was stolen.
Maverick is still missing without food or his medicine. Car is missing still too. I might have a lead from the police that Andy has fled to Florida.

This is terrible. I’m afraid that my optimism expressed earlier was shortlived.

I am going to go out on a limb here. Have you considered contacting a news agency about your situation? This is the kind of thing that they would be all over. Getting this out there would allow the public to be on the lookout for your sitter, dog and car.
