What are people’s thoughts on home owners use of A.I enhanced pictures of their homes? I’ve seen it used on a lot of listings and find it quite odd and misleading as it looks so fake.
Interesting @Joannacurwood as that’s one of the reasons a listing can now be reported for misleading and/or fake. It also means their review for Accuracy of Listing could be affected with less stars given.
I would pass on a listing like this.
What’s next? Ai being used to make old pets look young or fierce dogs smiling?
What kind of enhancements? If it can declutter a room, I would be interested! (Then I could just refer to the photo to motivate me to actually start decluttering.)
I would be surprised if someone would go to the trouble to do this as it’s only going to end in disappointment for the sitter and possibly negative reviews for the home owner. I am 90% confident I could pick AI images (caveat, at the moment ) and I would avoid a sit where I thought the images were AI. Maybe THS needs to add this to their T&Cs if it became an issue.
Fair warning to owners, if this happened to me I would seriously slash stars for accuracy of listing. I would be annoyed not to find fairies in the kitchen and dragons in the garden and I can’t imagine why else you would use AI in this situation
.
And the hosts too ?
Haven’t seen any of those but I accepted a sit once that had the real estate photos prior to the couple buying the house in the listing. The house looked very different from those photos so that was a surprise!
Potential for lies, misleading imagery and false promises is rampant . I, for one, would never trust AI in any form for personal communication (I consider listings on THS as personal communication as each party is relaying personal details which impact the decision on accepting a sit/sitter) and I would take this into consideration in my review of any such sit.
I read a review written by another sitter of a sit I’d previously been at- they used Ai to describe the local area- it was obvious they’d not visited any of the places mentioned and how fake it all sounded. Mind you Ai is getting better, I tried it out to tidy up a review I’m writing for my current sit, it changed some important details, using words like ‘spectacular’ which was weird. I think the HO of this family home would read that and think I’d stayed somewhere else!!
I saw a review of a sitter which started with the phrase
Here’s a house sitter review
…
@Joannacurwood this is one reason I ask to be shown around during the video chat.
Deceiving. I had a sit where the host used pictures of their home when it was staged before they bought it.
