I am due to start a long sitting in three weeks.
As I am currently staying very close to the house, I asked the HOs if I could pop in and ask them to introduce me to the pet and show me around. The HOs happily accepted the idea as they’ll be very busy on the departure day, in this way they’d have one thing less to worry about.
We’re going to meet some time this week and in the meantime I’ve received the Welcome guide which I’ve gone through already.
The posting shows a serie of photographs of the house including the main double bedroom and a guestroom.
The guest room is a small room with a single bed that can turns into a double bed. The option is sleeping in the single bed or opening it, having a double bed with little space to move around.
The Welcome guide mentions that the guest room would be offered.
Would it be too bold to ask if I could sleep in the main bedroom? An extendable bed could be ok for one or two nights, but this is a 3 week sitting, I wouldn’t mind having some more comfort.
Also based on the reviews, I could see that a family with children did a sitting for them, I guess that they had slept in the main bedroom?
What is your idea about it?
Thank you.
“What’s the possibility of me sleeping in the master bedroom, the guest room bed is a bit small for me”.
Easy. Worst they can do is say no.
Next time do this well in advance rather than leaving it until the last minute.
Never hurts to ask (politely) the worse they can do is say no.
You can say that I’d prefer to sleep in the main room that was shown in the listing as it will be more comfortable for a 3 week stay .
You might want to message them about this now ( before you meet in person ) so that they have time to think about it rather than any awkward conversation when you meet up with them later this week .
If the listing showed a picture of both master bedroom and Single bedroom its OK to assume both rooms would be available unless something is specified in the listing. Since the WG - which you only receive after confirming- now says the guestroom only that would be a turn off for me. They may be saying this because you are sitting solo & also some sitters really prefer a designated guest room. I would just ask them.
Good suggestion about asking beforehand @Silversitters
I am just surprised that they wouldn’t think about it on a first stage.
In one of the last sittings I had a big guestroom, with 4 pillows, plenty of towels, new sleepers, a hair towel wrap, an exfoliating pouf and I don’t know what more…
I wasn’t expecting all this attention, but I would feel bad in letting someone restrained into a small room for a long period of time when there is a bigger, more comfortable and advertised room available.
Anyway, I’ll ask.
I didn’t do it on a first stage @Kelton because I assumed that the main double bedroom was going to be offered like it has always happened in previous sittings unless there was a proper guestroom available. Also, families are welcome as sitters on this one, so I took for granted that the guestroom would be for additional guests/sitters.
The best policy is not to assume anything.
The very nice bathroom shown on the listing for our last sit was not the one available to sitters. We had a very unpleasant surprise on arrival.
I did review accordingly.
