4 poops a day is a lot. 1-2 is more typical but it does depend on what’s being fed. Either these dogs are fed too much or their macronutrients are off what is ideal for them, but I know it’s not your call on what they eat.
Dogs don’t like to poop directly where they lay, which is why crate training puppies teaches them to hold it. However they have no issue pooping in the perimeters of their territory, it’s marking. Coyotes do it all the time and we’ll see their poop uncovered on the sides of trails etc marking their territory. Of course most humans pick up their dogs poop because just like cats of a litter box is too full - they stop going there.
Most dogs will poop on walks as movement encourages bowel motion.
@JamesBrecon your listing is great and this is exactly the sort of sit we enjoy. We love labs, love walking and older son even has a telescope for those dark skies! Unfortunately we are tied to school holidays so we couldn’t do your dates this time. I am going to favourite your listing though, as our school holidays in Gloucestershire often do align with the Welsh school holidays.
I never said they poop 4 times a day, though my dog did when young. But she was extemely active and ate a lot for her size. I just like to walk them on a schedule.
Nothing for June just yet but the more I spend time looking around the more it seems to be either far in advance or last 4-6 weeks that things get snapped up!
Will likely delete the June one in a week or two and then repost a little later
Change your main image, at the moment your main pic has nothing unique about your particular sit. It’s of gorgeous Frank… but almost all sits on THS have cute pets, so the first image needs to be unique to make someone glance twice.
Instead use the one of your home with the blue sky, to ‘sell’ the feeling of the place. It’s stunning.
Thanks for the comments, ironically that’s the exact opposite advice (earlier on this post) and the reason I changed from the view of the house and fields to the dog!
@JamesBrecon there was a thread on the forum a few years back about what type of photo attracted sitters to click on a listing and read more. Different sitters preferred different types of photos. I realised that for me personally, there are different types of photos that would draw me in. A cute pet, a nice view, a lovely garden, a nice photo of the house, or even a room I could see myself relaxing in would appeal to me. Other sitter prefer a house photo, or a pet photo, or something else. There is no one right answer!
So maybe the best plan is to try one photo for a while, and then change it after a few days to see if another generates more interest
My two cents is put your pet at the best location in your house if you can, two for the price of one. I am quite animal driven, I want to look at their face and love them. The ones I think are ugly I go nope, not for me. I hate scrolling through a multitude of house photos only to finally find the pet is not one I would consider. How could you not love Frank?
Just today saw another one of these… I was wondering, should I apply just to recommend a change… but hey, it got my attention, so maybe it is working!
What comes to pet photos, a thing to consider in this infinite mess of perfect profile photo, if one has a small dog, they -might- attract more people than if they have a medium or big dog. That means that small dog as the main photo will have more people clicking.
I am actually starting to lean that way too. I mostly do cats, and sometimes tiny dogs (pee pads and other cat like qualities). And just sometimes a big dog, when it is walking distance to central city. And those are the pets who get the best reviews from me So I think I secretly like them the most.
