I am finishing a month long sit in CA and heading east. I have a 3 week sit in Scottsdale. The address is a small restaurant. The sit was suppose to start Tuesday, but I am going Wed. I am her first sitter. The pictures look great, said it is a gated community, but the address is wrong. Sent messages but just checking if anyone has had something like this happen.
Maybe a simple typo? Anyone’s guess, never heard it happening to anyone but who knows. Have you looked at Google maps satellite view to see if you can see any gated communities nearby? Just a thought.
We bought our home as a new construction. It took Google maps 2 years to recognize our address (and I submitted multiple requests). Until they did our address showed up as a cemetery.
Not saying that’s whats happening here but just a thought.
This is a reason why hosts ID should be verified in the same way that sitters are .
Are there any previous reviews?
The same for when we downsized to a modern newly built block.
Could be upstairs/downstairs kinda situation. Or could also be that the host feels uncomfortable giving their address to anyone, and does not know how hard it is for the sitters to see it (I am looking at you last minute WG sharers). I would not assume danger - but I too want the host addresses to be officially checked by THS!
Please let us know the outcome on this one @Huronbase. Very curious situation.
It was her mailbox. She sent me the address. I think someone should send the address before 2 days before a sit…
And no, there were no reviews as I am the first sitter. Hence her nervousness of posting details online. Even in the WG. No WG.
How long ago did you put in a request for the WG? I find that first time HOs sometimes need some extra guidance (ahem, prodding).
Oddly enough, I just had a similar conversation with my aunt. They recently built a new house & Google doesn’t list it, despite her reporting it multiple times. She said that it seems to take a bunch of different people reporting it before they typically update it…the more, the better.
(She also said that Apple Maps seems to update with new addresses more quickly.)
If I don’t get an exact address after accepting the sit gets cancelled.
I don’t make any travel plans until I have the address and the welcome guide.
She has a pretty public persona online as she runs a couple of businesses. So I am not worried. But annoying chasing an address.
