When weāre actively looking for a sit, especially a gap fill, as we just were last week- iām checking listings multiple times a day! Weāre in Spain right now and only a few new listings pop up each day and some are already āreviewingā before I can get to them - the good ones are gone within the hour! So we have to be super quick! Fortunately I was online when a great looking sit popped up with only 1 applicant. By the time Iād sent off a super quick application it went straight to āreviewingā! Fortunately they messaged us immediately (weād included our WhatsApp), set up a call and we confirmed the sit! It was a big stress to ācatchā that sit in time but at least we got it- gap filled- time to relax!

@Lokstar, this sort of experience reminds me to always write my application to very popular destinations in a way that shows I am āready to goā and supplying lots of contact information even in the initial application. You never know if you are dealing with a slow or fast Owner!
A million times per dayā¦and I still canāt catch the ones I really want

If Iām actively looking for a sit, Iām too embarrassed to state how many times I check. My daughter stated this forum is my #1 social media. She might have a point

@Lokstar yes, this forum is entertaining and educational. When I read something interesting, Iāll mention to my husband for example ādo you know what Lokstar said?ā. I mention the forum members by their screen names and each time he says āwho?ā. Once he asked why people donāt go by their real name and then I mentioned that Iām āIHeartAnimalsā. Homeowners assume heās my THS co partner but itās actually my 14year old daughter. After we confirm a sit, we just tell him where to drive
If I am looking for a sit for particular dates/location I check every 2 hours and get up at 1am to check while I am sleeping. Thank you 5 application limit. I appreciate the extra stress. Before the limit I checked 1x per day or even every other day.

@IHeartAnimals Yes! The forum names!! I deliberately chose a nickname & also donāt link our profile to the forum because Iām often a little forthright in my comments & sometimes get āmoderatedā!! So I prefer to remain a little anonymous on here!

This morning I found a record 5 notifications of listings in the opposite hemisphere and guess what, youāll never believe it, they were all gone by the time I even saw the notifications.
Wait, what? Where has this comment been whisked away to? Not the Thread of Doom, pleeeease

Lol, well I am addicted too thenā¦ we could start a group, lol, we are in one already.
I have searches set up and I check pretty much when ever a notification pops up, lol. So on average about every few hours.

You mean sit listings? Itās not so much about being addicted, itās more that itās a necessity to check very very often if you want to be amongst the first 5 applications for popular sits. I often donāt check the site enough - once a day, 5 times a day, 10 times a day. Thatās about it. Which is not enough to ābeatā the 5 application limit in many cases.
