As a sitter how often do you check listings?

Seems I have an addiction. I check way to often

When we’re actively looking for a sit, especially a gap fill, as we just were last week- i’m checking listings multiple times a day! We’re in Spain right now and only a few new listings pop up each day and some are already ā€˜reviewing’ before I can get to them - the good ones are gone within the hour! So we have to be super quick! Fortunately I was online when a great looking sit popped up with only 1 applicant. By the time I’d sent off a super quick application it went straight to ā€˜reviewing’! Fortunately they messaged us immediately (we’d included our WhatsApp), set up a call and we confirmed the sit! It was a big stress to ā€˜catch’ that sit in time but at least we got it- gap filled- time to relax!:joy:

Sorry to be late adding to this thread…I was just checking the listings!

@Lokstar, this sort of experience reminds me to always write my application to very popular destinations in a way that shows I am ā€œready to goā€ and supplying lots of contact information even in the initial application. You never know if you are dealing with a slow or fast Owner!

A million times per day…and I still can’t catch the ones I really want

If I’m actively looking for a sit, I’m too embarrassed to state how many times I check. My daughter stated this forum is my #1 social media. She might have a point

Almost constantly, LOL.

Long house sits are the break in my usual routine that I didn’t know I needed.

Still checking from time to time, even if I am fully booked for this year

@IHeartAnimals same here!- I’m a little too addicted to this forum- even more than the main site!:joy::rofl:

@Lokstar yes, this forum is entertaining and educational. When I read something interesting, I’ll mention to my husband for example ā€œdo you know what Lokstar said?ā€. I mention the forum members by their screen names and each time he says ā€œwho?ā€. Once he asked why people don’t go by their real name and then I mentioned that I’m ā€œIHeartAnimalsā€. Homeowners assume he’s my THS co partner but it’s actually my 14year old daughter. After we confirm a sit, we just tell him where to drive

If I am looking for a sit for particular dates/location I check every 2 hours and get up at 1am to check while I am sleeping. Thank you 5 application limit. I appreciate the extra stress. Before the limit I checked 1x per day or even every other day.

@IHeartAnimals Yes! The forum names!! I deliberately chose a nickname & also don’t link our profile to the forum because I’m often a little forthright in my comments & sometimes get ā€˜moderated’!! So I prefer to remain a little anonymous on here!:joy::rofl:

How low we have sunk :disappointed: (I don’t mean that personally, obvs!)
This morning I found a record 5 notifications of listings in the opposite hemisphere and guess what, you’ll never believe it, they were all gone by the time I even saw the notifications.

Wait, what? Where has this comment been whisked away to? Not the Thread of Doom, pleeeease :joy:

Lol, well I am addicted too then… we could start a group, lol, we are in one already.
I have searches set up and I check pretty much when ever a notification pops up, lol. So on average about every few hours.
Enjoy

You mean sit listings? It’s not so much about being addicted, it’s more that it’s a necessity to check very very often if you want to be amongst the first 5 applications for popular sits. I often don’t check the site enough - once a day, 5 times a day, 10 times a day. That’s about it. Which is not enough to ā€˜beat’ the 5 application limit in many cases.

At least once a day.
