Just browsing a potential sit but on looking at the amenities I see the bed is listed as Queen - had to check what size that is and here’s the conundrum; in the UK it’s smaller than a standard double but a US Queen is bigger than a standard US double. Confused? Me too. The sit is in the UK. I don’t know if there’s a THS bed sizing breakdown. Obviously, it’s something I would ask a host before committing to a sit as I certainly wouldn’t want a small queen bed for two people!

Just make sure you choose the bed that’s not too hard or soft. Also, eat the porridge that’s just right.
If in doubt ask for the mattress size in cm. Don’t just ask for bed size as we once had someone say the bed was 180 x 200 (great!) But when we got there the mattress inside this bed frame was only 140 wide…
A Queen bed in the UK is larger than a standard double.
A twin is 2 singles. A double supposedly fits 2 people but you’d need to be quite small.
How strange. I always understood that in the UK the sizing went small double, double, Queen, King , then super King or something!
That’s why my listing says that I have a US queen size bed. People can look that up if they need exact dimensions
Personally I would find it very helpful if hosts would list bed sizes with actual dimensions (e.g 160 x 200cm) rather than using names which do vary quite a bit around the world. It would save confusion and unnecessary extra questions.
I’ve lived in the UK all my life and have never heard of a queen size bed, here.
Single = 3ft (90cm)
Small double = 4ft (120cm)
Double = 4ft 6ins (135cm)
King = 5ft (150cm)
Superking = 6ft (180cm).
Singles and doubles are usually 190cm long, king and superking 200cm.
In Europe, we find 160cm are standard (EU king) and I know IKEA sell EU sizes of beds and mattresses.
50 years ago, most folk had a double bed. Then our diets became more comprehensive… 
I will be bringing my tape measure next time I travel and including measurements of every bed when I review. Sits and Airbnbs. This UK queen things has thrown me.
It’s enough to start a trade war. As America doesn’t have a monarchy it should be forced to relent on using King and Queen for mattress sizes.
