Cakes Of The World

Hi @Happypets Thank you! Yes I did but I’m currently on my travels and the recipe is in my kitchen recipe folder at home so I’ll dig it out for you when I’m back and post it on here. It will definitely be worth the wait!!:slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, Sam.

I tried a traditional Cassata Siciliana. It’s typically composed of a round sponge cake moistened with fruit juices or liqueur and layered with ricotta cheese and candied fruit. It has a shell of marzipan which is typically pink or green coloured icing with decorative designs. It was rather good!

These are Pasticciotto’s, a type of filled Italian pastry that I tried when I visited Lecce, Italy. Depending on the region, they are traditionally filled with either ricotta cheese or egg custard. The ones in the photo were filled with egg custard and they were delicious! :face_savoring_food:

I thought I’d share this delicious-looking Raspberry Caramel cake, which I ordered online. The bakery has shops in England, but they do mail delivery too, and they’re really good at it. The slice is so huge that it’ll be cut into portions for the freezer, but it means I’ve got a sweet treat for years to come!

If you visit Manchester you should look up Get Baked… everything I’ve had from the online service has been amazing.

I discovered these delicious pastries called Xuixos whilst staying in Platja d’Aro on the Costa Brava, Spain.

This delicacy originates from the city of Girona in Catalonia. They are a deep fried, sugar coated cylindrical pastry filled with crema catalana, which can be various flavours such as Nutella, vanilla etc…
If you happen to be in the area they are definitely worth trying and utterly delicious!
