Can I contact HO who is ‘no longer needing a sitter?

But some of you long-timers here have ways…

I was procrastinating on a sit which had only one applicant and no previous reviews.

Finally decided to apply and *poof* it has changed to “No sitter currently needed” . No “reviewing” message so likely not filled.

Any chance of contacting the HO somehow ?

Sounds like they forgot they’d posted the listing and found an alternative plan…. your application prompted them to delete it.

Nope. No way to contact them.

OP said they didn’t apply. They were about to.

Many homeowners are contacting previous sitters they’ve liked through messages outside of THS. It’s very possible they reached out to one or more favorite sitters and a sit was set up immediately. There’s no way to see if a homeowner has a pending sit that’s been filled. “No sitter currently needed” is a catchphrase to mean all kinds of things. I’d keep your eye out in case the repost, maybe with a change in dates.

@toreishi You can’t contact them as they no longer have live dates but if its a sit you might be interested for future dates then you can favourite them. That way you’ll be notified next time they post dates and you can also locate them easily again- in your favourites list.

Unfortunately, this might be one of those “you snooze, you lose” situations :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:There is another way, though. If one of their previous sitters is active here on the forum or on social media, you could ask them to pass a message along to the homeowners on your behalf. You may get a sympathetic response… or a “don’t ever contact me again, you creep” response. Proceed at your own risk:joy:

We go to the UK in Summer to avoid the Australian Winter. Our experience is that homeowners often ask us for an extra sit along the lines of, “We are retired and would like to go to Greece for a week in June. We can fit in with your dates if you are available”. However, we need a successful chat first. Is there any way to sort out the sit dates into (1) Music Festival, event or wedding in the EU (2) dates are fluid and we just want the right sitter sometime around then? If so, it will be much easier to plan a series of sits on our next tour.

A warm welcome to the forum, and may you enjoy the many discussions you find here.
