I suggest you contact membership services and ask them
You can ask, nothing to lose. But we once asked to freeze our home exchange account as we would have been away for a year. They said no, as the essence of the business is often only one holiday (or one usage) per year for the majority of subscribers. Therefore the company gain nothing of they freeze a membership. This obviously excludes full-time sitters / nomads.
Also here, members use THS on average just 10 nights per year.
Not sure if you can freeze the account - probably not - but when I switched off my auto-renew recently I received an offer which would have given me two months’ usage free of charge had I remained a paid-up member. Depending on how long you were thinking of ‘freezing’ for, this might be a work around?
