I’ve been with Trusted Housitters as an HO since 2018. I renewed my membership today. I’m basic plan.
I just noticed that the ability to boost my listing is gone and I can no longer see who favorited my page. I feel I was always basic and had access to them. I see this is available starting with the standard membership, but that price went up to $229
Am I going crazy or did TH change the access to some features?
That’s interesting. We are also old timers and are on the basic membership from years ago. When they brought in the tiered membership system I predicted this would happen - they would slowly take features off until we had to pay the inflated cost of the next level. It’s called making money without taking the clients into consideration. Obviously, our continued commitment does not matter, money is more important
Were you on autorenew? Or do you pay directly each year?
If its the former, and you’d chosen to remain basic (as we have done as sitters) then it sounds like THS is changing the goal posts again (without telling us) & wanting to force people into a higher membership level. That’s not fair.
I recently completed a survey where they had proposals for all sorts of extra add ons we could purchase e.g being able to apply for overlapping sits etc (things we used to have included anyway… )
Sadly… as @ElsieDownie says its all about the money these days…
I rather wish THS would streamline its software and focus on removing inconsistencies instead of maintaining exceptions and privileges for a small minority of old-guard members.
I’ve received information about tiers and privileges changing, but also been surprised at renewal time by what’s being offered and at what price. Do you read the newsletters and get regular updates? Perhaps your notification settings could be tweaked. I used to have basic and upgraded to the next level and it’s so worth it for the great care my pets have gotten, but I’m not sure it’s worth it for the meager perks offered by THS. My “favorited” list has gotten me nowhere, the insurance coverage seems a difficult and often useless process, and I’ve never needed to boost a post.
Anyway, they do send renewal reminders and sometimes there’s a heads-up that things have changed, but it’s gotten pretty squirrelly here so it pays to read everything! I tried to turn off auto-renew this week so I wouldn’t get caught off guard with new charges and the message I got was “are you sure you want to cancel your membership?” So I’m not sure what’s coming next, but I’m watching closely.
Why not both? Given a chance, the minority could become the majority. Loyalty rewards alongside efficiently working software could be a winning (and appreciated) concept.
Yes, I get regular emails from TH and I do read them. I did get an upcoming renewal email twice. However, there was no info that the price was going up and I don’t know what privileges changed.
I like the Standard membership so I can see my favorites list and boost my listing. Those have saved me a few times when I had a last minute cancelation.
All in all, I paid - but just wish they gave a heads up for the price change to minimize confusion. I didn’t even realize that I had the Standard as it jumped from $169 to $229. I guess the new dollar amount made my brain glitch lol
they should
" 7.7. We may increase the price of any of our Services at any time and where we do so, we will email you. We will aim to give you at least 30 days’ notice of any such price increase."
@Lokstar I didn’t know this! Thanks for the tip. I’ve been a member since 2018 myself. I will be keeping the auto-renewal on. Thanks again for sharing this info.
@Catin88 i remember getting an email in my first year (2018) saying that if I used auto renew my membership price would remain fixed forever. Since prices generally do rise I decided that was a good idea! So I set autorenew and my renewal price has never changed. It is now lower than all the newer three tier prices. However those who upgrade and later want to downgrade again will not get their original starter price back. They will only get the lower tier price they choose. And those who don’t use autorenew will be subject to all price increases. I have never felt the need to upgrade- I don’t believe the extras are worth it (for us at least) so we are still on ‘Basic’.
