Channel Islands frustration

One of my searches is ‘Jersey Channel Islands’ I have an elderly relative living there and it’s great to stay nearby and visit them rather than stay with them. However my personal gripe is that THS sends me alerts for the Island of Guernsey which is ‘nearby’ but a flight or ferry journey across water…. is there a way of THS changing this please? Jersey is very different to Guernsey … they’re really not interchangeable as locations.

@BonnyinBrighton I just put in Jersey and in the choices I was given, I clicked on Jersey Jersey. Two sits came up - Bel Royal and Saint Helier.

Yes correct Jersey sits come up for Jersey, but alerts also arrive for me for Guernsey which isn’t Jersey. You won’t see these as they go very quickly then they pop up so if you’ve not got a search set up for Jersey you’ll probably not see them. Presumably people who have a search set up for Guernsey also get alerts for Jersey which must irritate them.

The search function covers too wide an area and you can’t filter to narrow down the search .
Saved searches can’t be sorted by distance .
Either of these options would improve the current frustration with the search function.

For example when searching for sits in the Lake District ( Cumbria ) U.K. , sits in the Isle of Man come up and vice versa . Isle of Man is an expensive & long ferry journey away from Cumbria .

You’ll find we’ve discussed the searches on the forum a lot of times. Whatever you put in you’ll often get places 50+ miles away. There is a map you can use, I understand, but I’ve never tried that

So have you set up a search for Guernsey?

I can’t see that it would produce any more Jersey sits?
I suppose my gripe is they’ve not even got the same jurisdiction or coastline. I think I’m less irritated when it’s the mainland, at least it’s possible to get a train or drive between locations. I use the map but it’s not much use for Jersey as these need to be grabbed within minutes or they disappear ….it’s a small issue really I suppose. My son says it’s just a small piece of code to fix by naming Islands as special cases and excluding/including. This would also fix the Isle of Man and other Island issues.

If it can’t be monetised it won’t be implemented. There’s no incentive for the venture capitalists to spend money they don’t have to, even though it would greatly benefit members.
