Hey eveyrone ! I’m currently in Petersburg Alaska working my way south for my fall and winter of Petsitting. Petersburg is a small fishing town on Frederick Sound in southeast Alaska with a population of around 3,000. The town was founded in the late 1800’s by Peter Buchmann, a Norwegian fisherman. The town is decorated with many signs of its Norwegian history, with decorative floral patterns on buildings and Norwegian flags. It’s location is a prime spot for fishing, and in the summer you can view Humpback Whales and even a chance of Orcas from different viewponts along Wrangell Narrows. It lies just south of Juneau the capitol, and North of Wrangell and Ketchikan. It’s been a delightful stopover after a very hectic summer of leading walking tours in Sitka. My airbnb host is awesome, and on top of that has a gorgeous 3 year old Husky named Raya and a fluffy black cat named Vader. Petersburg is not the standard tourist destination in this neck of the woods, and only hosts a few small cruise ships like Natgeo in the summer months. Surrounded by majestic mountains such as “Devils Thumb” which lies on the border with British Columbia.
