I am referring to the little heart as “favourite”, that’s done listing by listing and that allows you to have previously selected the listings you are interested in. The other option is to save a search, which includes lots of possible listings including different filters (period of time, pets, region or town, public transport, etc.) The alert you get for a favourite is more specific, including dates, the alert for saved searches will only alert you about new listings for your saved search. That may only be in the app.

I booked my 2025 winter holidays sit in Spain back in July 2025! I’m lucky enough to be returning this autumn as well. Best of luck!

We just listed our Sit in Coimbra, Portugal for Christmas/New Year 2026. It’s a wonderful time of year.

That’s so kind of you to post a heads’ up; your place looks lovely & the pups adorable…what a nice place to spend the holidays. Would love to visit Portugal sometime…is definitely on my bucket list, & have favorited your listing. 🙂

Noticed the reference to Washington in Samantha’s photo…are you traveling back here for the holiday? (Seattle here ✋)

Cheers!

@carpediem16 I have been looking for a sitting during Xmas time too and also like you, to some warmer areas like Cote d’Azur in France or Liguria (in Italy). Luckily I don’t have to travel long distances as I live quite close.

Some sittings have been advertized, some are gone already. I just haven’t found one right for me yet.

If you enter the Countries you’d like to travel to or just Europe and the dates, the sittings will show up on the map and you can decide which one to pick. You can save the search so that you’d be notified of a new sitting within that range either by email or via the App.

Just to let you know Italy can be very cold at least from the North down to the centre of the Country (with the exception of Liguria because on the sea). Regions like Sicily or Apulia could have a milder climate, but it is always better checking. There’s been a lot of snow in the South as well, so you never know.

All the best on your search.

@Mokina thank you. Yes, I do know how to search for those regions. It’s tiring that we can’t exclude the UK in our “Europe” searches.

We are coming from the US so our searches are more rigid meaning we are looking for 2 weeks at least along with other preferences. I know Spain and Portugal are very competitive so we will see what happens. And I realize the S of France and Italy are not “warm” in winter but warmer than where we live (lots of snow and below freezing!). 😅

Yes, & the new map control & integration with searching and saves has actually made this harder vs easier. 🤦‍♀️

With the beta “search plus” you can exclude de UK, but I don’t think adding other filters works very well. You can try with “Europe excluding UK” + “Christmas sit”. I haven’t managed to include sit duration, though.

Not to be a Debbie-downer, but my experience with “Search plus” is that it frequently fails on even simple queries, much less compound or complex ones. Results seem completely random:
— sometimes it just fails without an error, giving no results.
— Sometimes it completes the search but the listings don’t necessarily match the query (search for pool homes includes listings without pools, just for example);
— often it randomly tells me it can’t create a search for what I’m asking (sits greater than one month, for instance — but even a simple location-based search often throws the error)…
it’s just all over the map, so much so that I gave up testing it or trying to summarize what I was seeing weeks ago.

And speaking of maps…if you do manage to get a result for your Search Plus query, you don’t have the ability to jump to the map & refine it, nor can you filter or save it for notifications.

At this point in time, amongst all the old & new search options the app supports, I am unable to find a single one that is fully-functional & provides consistent, accurate results. 🤷‍♀️

Sorry for the rant; just a bit frustrated with pretending it’s business as usual with our THS searches. I’m also spending hours of my time every day trying to decide where I’ll be spending my holidays this year, and it just shouldn’t have to be this difficult. 😥

(As an update, I _ **was** _ just able to complete a Search plus query: “ **Sits in europe in december, but not in the uk** ” and I did get results…but I can’t sort them, filter them, view a map, or save the search, & I’ve not yet verified how accurate they are or how many there are:)

So give it a try, & best of luck 🤞 🍀

Not very well, I’m afraid.

I think it works better if you choose one of the filters suggested but it can’t manage more than one or two filters.
