Did you mean to reply to me? I can’t possibly know why you were declined.
But if you want to private message me your last application I will give my honest opinion if I see anything off putting in it.

That’s kind of you
My reply was not particularly aimed at you personally… just commenting in general
If the application is generic and doesn’t pertain to our sit specifically such as mentioning our dogs by name or commenting on something in the listing showing it’s been carefully read I am more prone to declining the applicant but it’s not the only consideration.
Another putoff is if the applicant says they can’t do those specific dates but want to be considered for a future sit.
When you write the application try to turn it around and imagine you are the host reading it. Sell yourself. Especially if it’s a desirable sit and there will be competition.
it was marked as being a reply to me specifically
@Jane66 If you know you were the only applicant, then you could then ask the host for feedback (although I would not). Be prepared that the host may give some generic answer to avoid feeling uncomfortable, rather than giving a true response.
If you were not the only applicant, the simple answer is likely another applicant was preferable, for whatever reason. I was once chosen because one of my photos shows me cuddling a goat. The host selected me for that reason as she saw me as a warm and caring person. Not being selected is not always because of some fixable reason.
Your best way of improving your chances of being successful is to fine-tune your profile. If you add yours to your forum profile, members will likely give you some constructive feedback.
How would you know if you are the only applicant?
Once you’ve applied and look at the dates again.. it comes up with you’ve already applied for this sit
@Jane66 My mistake. I was meaning more that there were zero applicants when you applied. Of course, even then someone could be submitting an application at the same time as you.
if you have 2 declined apps for the same sit wihtout further explanation, I would take that as a sign to not apply to it again. If they liked your sitter profile, surely they would have responded with a message encouraging you to apply in the future. Silence carries the message here IMO.
The declined sits were not for the same sit
I wouldn’t apply again I’d declined with no message sent
oh sorry i misunderstood your message. ![]()
