Favorite listings

Can someone help me figure this out? After I have clicked the red heart on certain listings, where do I view them/search them/compile them? When I click on favorites in the dropdown list under my profile, it takes me to my inbox of messages–presumably ones I have also clicked the heart. But I do not see listings where there are no conversations. Thank you.

On your THS profile go find a sitter or sit, whichever is applicable. You will then see your saved searches and fav profiles in. Drop down tab. Click to open

Hi @anon4168721 you can find the answers to most membership questions on our website help page … it is a really very comprehensive compilation of Q&A’s just key in your search key word or phrase. Here’s the link >>> support.trustedhousesitters.com

… and as you’ve found your fellow forum members are also incredibly helpful :slightly_smiling_face:

Sorry I am so confused. I must be doing something wrong.

I am able to click on my saved searches and see those just fine. When I click on the favorites in the pull down list under my profile, all I get is the sits that I have communication with. Not the ones that I have starred.

I guess I will just have to keep a handwritten list. I am trying to fill a last minute hole in my cat sitting schedule and don’t want to gather/prioritize.

Thank you for trying to help.

I find the favorites list is most easily accessible from the mobile app. There you can see all those in your favorites and filter by which ones have current openings. I’m not sure why it’s not the same on desktop, but it’s one of the little quirks between desktop and the app.

Yes, the favourites don’t display the same on the website as they do on the app. I learned that after quite a while of me always seeing my Inbox on the website and nothing was clearly identified as ‘Favorites’. The only way it works for me is by using the app. I find it a bit counterintuitive that the two platforms don’t function similarly.

Thank you all for the help. You are right. I was being very silly trying to see my favorites via the desktop. Once I looked at my phone I could easily see the favorites button and then they were viewable. From now on I will use both my phone (for viewing) and my computer (for typing). Have a nice weekend.

This is an old thread, but I have a question about how “favoriting” works. I’ve got more than 100 favorites listed (clicked the red heart on the app) but I don’t think I’ve gotten any notifications for new dates posted in at least three months. There are some listed that I know have had new dates in the past month.

If one of my favorites posts dates for a new listing will an email be pushed to me? Or will I receive the standard Trusted Housesitters banner that leads to my saved searches? Or some other notification type? Can someone tell me what I should be seeing and what steps I should take to make sure the appropriate notification button is toggled for favorites? Thanks.

Hi Petermac. When you say I will receive a “ping” does that mean I hear a sound from my phone? If it is a sound, what are the next steps to see the listing? I’m using the app on an iphone, I have all notifications toggled on the THS app and the iphone settings and maybe my favorited sitters are not posting new listings. But, if you could give me more details of what I should be seeing or hearing I would appreciate it. How often do you get a ping for the number of favorite you’ve hearted? Roughly.

woohoo! yes it works very well. I get invites also because of it, my only complaint is that I still haven’t got that clone button to work yet

Nice. Definitely have not seen that, but now I know what to look for. Thanks.

Hi, I am all new to THS. As I understand, new house sittings go fast and I don’t like to miss out, so how do the notifications work? How do I get notifications for houses in ex. different cities in other countries (that I want to visit). I am on a basis membership.

Hi @Bcn
Welcome to this wonderful community.
First, work on losing the fear that you are missing out.
Second, new listings only go fast if they fall into the category of highly desirable location.
When you are starting out, focus more on building your profile and experience. If you have experience outside of THS, highlight that in your profile and in your initial applications. It is recommended you start locally. Put emphasis on the things that will make you attractive to a HO not your desire to travel but the animals.

Hi Amparo,
Thanks for taken your time and thanks for the good advice. My question about notifications I am still curious about

There is actually a whole discussion going on right now about notifications as some seem to experiencing difficulties. Use your magnifying glass to do a search here on the forum for any topic you are interested in. In this case notifications or favoriting a sit.
Ideally, you do a search on the THS platform by location and filters, date, pets and such. When you add them to your favorite you should get notifications. You can favorite places, dates and actual listings for the future. This works better on the app on your phone vs a laptop. It’s not perfect but give it a go. Actually just noticed your post was moved so scroll up :grinning:

Thanks so much Amparo

Hi @Bcn. Amparo covered it, but I’ll just piggyback. To help you get started, I’d try to get as many excellent, detailed external reviews as possible. Or, say, at least 3. =) Hopefully that will be enough to help you get your first TH sit. The first one is always the hardest to get.

On a side, note, I see in your profile you are a masseur. Have you any training in pet massage? I always thought that would be a handy skill for a sitter, and it might lead to interesting insights as a regular/human masseur.

Thanks Geoff. I already applied for one local sit, though still waiting for a reply.
I love massaging pets (I should actually highlight that), though my training is only with humans.

I currently have some dates for Scotland in my saved searches. The newest one to come up looks like a new HO. Their stated area in their heading is not Scotland so their sit appears to have been assigned to the wrong area. I don’t want to waste their time applying to tell them this and wondered if it is something I can raise with Angela or Debbie?
