I’d find the ability to add sit specific notes when opening dates very useful. Specifically, we sometimes are gone on trips where we’re contactable, sometimes not. It would also be nice to add details about why dates are flexible, or what the preferences are.

I don’t quite understand what you’re saying, but the way forward is to message prospective sitters, and, if you’re interested, set up a video call. You can discuss all the specifics then. You mention sometimes you’re not contactable. If you’re not contactable, and I can’t think of many instances when you might not be (although if on a Cunard cruise I could understand not wanting to pay their huge daily WiFi charges) then you should provide the name and contact info of a trusted person who can make decisions on your behalf. You must always provide emergency contacts anyway.
I agree it would be useful to have a field with specific information regarding a specific sit, that would help sitters decide if they want to apply and would save everyone time.
I wouldnt like to include contactable/not contactable in my home-owner’s profile, in case it attracted the wrong kind of sitter. I would discuss that as soon as possible with a suitable applicant. As Smiley says, when the home-owner is not contactable it’s absolutely vital to leave the sitter with alternative contacts (in my own scenario, with a healthy but elderly pet, this included who can pay for vet bills, help with health decisions, what to do if pet died…)
For date flexibility I usually put that in the ‘About me’ section. Eg, “July 2026 dates could start up to two days earlier”.
