I love social history if I can call it that. I often find myself trawling old newspapers (sad I know)
so I thought I would kick off the history page. :grinning_face
Dr Munro who was one of the founders of Edinburgh Medical School taught his parrot to sing the national anthem. During an extended absence, Dr Munro’s wife, who adhered to Jacobite beliefs, consistently silenced the parrot by exclaiming “hush, you rogue”. Consequently, whenever Dr Munro attempted to sing “God Save the King” (referring to a previous monarch), the bird would interrupt with the cry of “hush, you rogue”.
I hope you don’t mind but I changed the title a little and I’ve added an image so that your topic shows up in our “featured posts” on the Forum homepage.
Really hoping that some of our members will pop on with their own fun history tales! My Dad is a bit of an amateur historian so it’s a subject close to my heart.
@Jenny No problem with the title.
Just a fun thing I like doing.
I used to have (well still do ) a page on FB. but tend not to post on it these days it is full of other folks stuff and all these follow pages.
