After having known about it for several years, I finally downloaded the app and my son and I have been out geocahing!
We are pretty serious walkers (20,000+ steps a day, for those who measure that kind of thing) and this adds a novelty dimension to it.
We encountered a cache beneath this dragon’s head trunk, deep in the woods of Wiltshire.
What pleasure to be exploring the forests with a keen canine companion!
Of course, it should say ‘fans’, but I guess ‘fams’ works too in my situation. 
I know people who like to do that and I think it is a great adventure! What wonderful memories you are making with your son.

@Rhe an ammo can is one of our favourite types of cache to find. They do tend to be placed deep in the undergrowth though as they sadly sometimes get stolen.
We once found a geocache that was big enough for myself and my sons to get inside (when they were younger, it would be trickier now they are 6 feet tall!) Sadly that one isn’t there any more.
One of my all time favourite locations was a geocache in Cathedral Cavern in the Lake DIstrict, UK. It was recommended by a geocaching facebook group, and they even explained how we could take an alternative route out of the cavern via a short scramble and through a tunnel.
