Getting invites from non-family friendly HO

Evening! Is it just me but do other family pet sitters keep getting invites from HO that are NOT stating family friendly?
One HO clearly had in their description that they won’t accept children!
Are HO’s prepared to bend their exceptions on their terms? When I’ve messaged some back & identified the fact they’re not family friendly & I come with child I don’t hear back!

Some people write to anyone close to their area on the off chance they might accept. Invites really work but homeowners are usually desperate and don’t realise. One lady who contacted me had written to 200 people. My profile says I can’t look after large dogs, I know by what I have been offered they haven’t read my profile properly or maybe not at all.

Often owners have not read a sitter’s profile but just send out invitations at random @JayneH, especially if they’re not receiving applications. If it has a personalised message accompanying the invitation, there’s more chance at least some of your profile has been read.

I sent a application for a sit near my son and very clearly stated that the reason i was traveling to that area was to be able to have my son over for home-cooked meals and to spend time with him while walking the dogs. Not overnights, but nightly meals that I cooked for him on his way home from work that didnt involve his roomate. HO called and offered me the sit if no one but me came to the home and couldnt i just cook at his house. Why was i very specific about what i was looking for and why call me? Quess they were desperate…

I think it’s only natural they do that. When they produced their profile their initial idea of a family may have been loud kids, rushing about, and the type that knocks ornaments off shelves whereby their pets can’t relax and stay calm.

Whereas your child probably come across as a more caring animal-lover, who adores pets, and will give them loads of cuddles and strokes. I’d take it as a huge compliment.

We sit as a couple, and occasionally we’ll apply for a sit that has asked for single sitters only, and we get accepted, simply because when they read our profile, we aren’t a couple in our 20’s going out partying every night, which is their incorrect perception of what a couple sitting at the start is.

It’s the same for those owners profiles that ask for the sitter to pop in beforehand, once they read our profile that goes out of the window.

That may be the case for some HOs, especially if they don’t have suitable applications but

These cases seem to show that they have not read your profile and that they have no manners.

I get so many unsuitable invitations (my profile asks for no invitations from a particular area), and all have been from new HOs who, it would seem, do not read profiles, think close to home would appeal, and think there is success through invitations. Sometimes i help by suggesting how to make their sit more attractive, sometimes i simply hit Decline.
