Hope you and your sit dog and sit home escape any significant problems.

This smart dog is helping itself to a carrot while its owner is distracted whilst shopping!

This cat escapes through the sunroof whilst the owner is driving!

Take good care with your passengers!

He’s going to miss you. The licking of your knee says it all.

Enjoying flowers that my host cut before leaving. She invited me to cut more, if I like.

Today, my sit dog and I explored a new trail.

On the way home, we stopped to gawk at a local event connected with Halloween — folks in boats dress up as witches and paddle among “stations” in a lake to collect cards, as part of a competition.

Some spectators watch from the shore, including a picnic my sit dog invited himself to. :joy:

Today overlooking Agate beach 10 minute walk From Sweet cat Sit in Bolinas. Made me wonder if the cliff I was sitting on was also undercut…. And I even slightly stumbled on the narrow path while nervously easing off That spot. Yikes! Sitting solo can be harrowing if not Paying attention to “dangerous cliffs” Signs:grimacing:!

You are so right about the vulnerability of solo sitting re possible accidents.( I solo sit a lot but my wife knows she’s always invited to join me! )
My present sit is a month long and the Home Owners did say “ We have only had couples doing this”. But they could see from my reviews I have done many solo sits without any mishaps so they decided to go ahead.
I haven’t taken the dog out with me in the car because I don’t know the area too well. It also limits possible difficulties. There are lots of great walks from the door. In addition I have a bilingual friend who has also adopted a rescue dog and lives locally so this reassured the Home Owners too. We’ve had a very successful play date arranged for the dogs and the Home Owner is keen to meet the friend and keep up the contact. This isn’t the first time I have introduced a friend and it’s lovely when it results in such positive outcomes.
On a solo sit I’ve looked after 3 cats and two dogs… I think that’s my limit. If I were walking along cliff edges that would be reduced to one dog lol
What lovely views you’re enjoying! Stay safe and well!

On my current solo sit, the house sits on waterfront. There also are coyotes in the area, so I’ve started trying to let my sit dog out later, because he likes to eat before dawn and then run directly out to the backyard, along the lake.

The sun is rising later. I worry that if he were attacked by a coyote before sunrise, I couldn’t see well enough to save him and avoid getting hurt. There are old-growth trees, with uneven ground and debris.

There are also bears in the area, though of course it’s much rarer to see bears than coyotes.

Wow Maggie8K struggling with bears and coyotes ! On your own! No wonder people want you back sitting for them!
Here am I moaning about a change in the weather!
It just shows how intrepid many sitters are. It’s not for the over thinkers!
Have a wonderful time and away from the wild side!

I normally sit in urban areas. This sit is by contrast in a unique ocean and bay geography. I came to check it out, because I’d never been and was curious. If it were closer to good jobs, it would be upscale. Instead, it’s an unusual combo of retirees, rural-ish and lower-end resort-ish. Also historic. Interesting.

There are coyotes where I live, too, even in suburbia. That’s because we’re next to a small stand of woods, connecting to much larger woods, which serve as habitat.

Meanwhile, my sit dog has temporarily fallen asleep on me, after trying to get me to feed him before dawn. I’m hoping he holds out till there’s at least some sun before racing out into the backyard after feeding.

Luckily our current sit dogs are well trained in the routine our hosts relayed to us:

“They will wake you up between 5:30 and 6:30 to be let out. If it is still dark, please go out first to check the yard for mountain lions before opening the gate.”

What time do mountain lions have breakfast? Would be my first question!
I assume it’s not a bowl of Frosties?

That’s hilarious.

I have gates to close at night, so coyotes can’t come onto the deck. But coyotes have been known to jump six feet or higher. I don’t think they’ll be stopped if they want in.

This reminds me of a sit where I had to make sure the yard was clear of raccoons before letting the dog out. He had apparently gotten into a major bloody fight with a nest of them under the stairs outside once. They can be vicious if cornered.

Coincidentally, that sit house was two doors down from the first home I owned, decades ago. And back then, I remember looking downstairs, out the window once, and there were a pair of raccoons sauntering up the curved, inclined front path (we lived on a rise), like they were coming to call on us.

Oh, I already know the answer to that question: any time they want…

A beautiful border arrangement at Hellbrunn Palace in Salzburg, Austria :hibiscus:

Sit dog and I visited a cranberry museum/farm today. It’s a big industry in this area. Went on a walking tour with him, which welcomed dogs. Sweet.

He loved their grass, which was like a carpet between the cranberry bogs. Rolled all over it repeatedly. He also snacked on fallen cranberries, which are supposed to be good for dogs.

Then we went to a state park/beach, where someone had built a shelter of sorts out of driftwood. My sit dog played building inspector.

He was a happy boy.

This Morning in bolinas I awoke At 7:30….the only reason the old Kitty didn’t Wake Me up At 5 Is cuz I fed her “breakfast “ at Midnight when I got up to pee:joy:! And there was a Coyote poop Left dead Center on the hot tub cover as well as coyote paw prints on the white outdoor couch cushions! At home we have 10 acres with oaks, pines, madrones, & redwoods and my dog refuses to go out in the dark to pee without us. We’ve seen the coyotes… they trick a Dog by luring it to chase him into the bushes where the partner coyotes wait… or so says my neighbor! Oy!
