I experienced.. Doors slamming shut unexpectedly. Footsteps behind me on staircase, icy cold rooms, have you experienced anything on sits?
We lived in a 400 year old semi rural house for 28 years. It heated and cooled, and due to the building materials (Oak beams etc) it expanded/contracted throughout the day and made noises. Doors lifted and dropped due to the seasons and moisture. I donât believe in ghosts, however the house took a long time to accept us as its new family, itâs a feelingâŚ. Iâd say after 10 years the house was wedded to us. When we left I sat in each room with a candle and recalled all the events/thoughts/feelings associated with that space. I thanked the house for our wonderful memories as a family.
We downsized to a new built City flat- it makes no creaking noises at all. Itâs kind of weird.
Yes. An old English manor. very very strange things and noises happening. from it, so I understand! (not the first time I encounter a haunted house in the UK or Ireland )
Yup! In an area of New Mexico with a lot of history. Doors would open and close, drawers would open on their own, and shadows would move across the walls. In another house in Arizona, the catâs sibling had recently died, the living cat was hiding in the closet, the catâs toy bell was on the floor in the hallway, and suddenly started ringing.
This wasnât on a sit, but about 10 of us were sat in a friends small terraced house, about 100 years old, and I said. " I wonder how many people have died in this house ", suddenly the big mirror hanging over the fireplace flew, horizontally off the wall, and shattered into hundreds of pieces. The hubby, sat next to the mirror, who is the most down to earth person on the planet, said it was pushed.
I believe my own house which is over hundred years old has a friendly female presence. A few times when friends have come to check house a voice says âHelloâ Iâve also heard kitchen cupboard doors opening & closing. My daughter has felt someone gently touch top of her head. She was alone. 
Yes! I house sat in an old rectory a couple of years ago. I felt the presence of other people on the first day - they would congregate outside my bedroom on the first floor, nowhere else. It was so unsettling that I even began to move a heavy chair in front of the door at night (I know, a chair would be no use lol). After a week or so of this, I was washing up and happened to glance up at an upstairs window; there was someone watching me. As soon as they saw me, they darted behind a curtain.
That was the last straw. In a firm voice, I told whoever it was to stop playing games, that I was unimpressed and not going to be stopped from going upstairs each night and would be staying until the home owners left.
Never happened again.
I have completed so many sits now - 90 or so? - quite a few in very old houses, as well as lived in older houses than the rectory, and have never experienced this before or since.
Oh my goodness. That must have scary. I say hello to mine and thank you for looking after the house when I return after a sit 
You are all freaking me out! 
On a recent (non-THS) housesit, I heard noises, usually at night. All (most?) may have been racoons and other critters, and the house settling, but once I heard what sounded like one of my books sliding off the bedside table onto the floor, and it hadnât. And then another night, same ancient desk/bedside table, one HO family photo fell over in an unexpected way.
My house dates back to the 1740âs and certainly appears to be haunted. Some nights there will be an immense bang as though someone has pushed over a free standing wardrobe, but upon checking, nothing is amiss. Virtually every evening around about 10.30pm the letterbox clunks as though someone has walked past it.
Interestingly, when we bought the house, we were told that there is a mummified dog set between the rafters by the fireplace which is concealed by a bolted panel. When we were renovating, we also came across some old money hidden under the floorboards at the top of the stairs which we put back. Itâs certainly a quirky house!
I wouldnât have put the money back. You can take old money to a bank, it could be worth a lot more. Maybe your spirit is trying to tell you to take it? 
Just googled it. Depending on condition a dealer or auction house would give you a good price for old money
One of my first sits was at a fortified manor house in England. It started out in the 15th century, but had been adapted, tinkered-with and extended over time, as they tend to be. But in this one, the upshot was that the proportions were skewed. Doors were too wide and too low.. There were odd stone cubbyholes in the bedrooms.. Passages went nowhere.. And most unsettlingly, there was a âwet cellarâ - a hole in the floor, beneath which there was, essentially, a black pool. The water level rose and fell with the nearby river.
Probably because of the odd proportions, the whole house felt⌠Wrong.
It was quite a taxing mental exercise to keep my imagination in check for two weeks.
