My husband and I live in Orpington and so we’ve done one sit near Ipswich and we have another one lined up i the Peak District in August. We are absolutely loving it so far and hopefully in the future we can venture abroad!
Welcome!
Enjoy your adventure!

Hello @SarahKD and a warm welcome to TrustedHousesitters and to the Community Forum and congratulations on completing that all important first sit.
It is so lovely to hear that you are enjoying this lifestyle. Whereabouts are you hoping to house sit abroad?
For reference you can also add your TrustedHousesitters profile on to your Forum profile by following the attached link, should you wish. This will then enable others to offer you helpful advice and feedback.
If you are unsure how to do this, or if you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask, we are all more than happy to help.
Also, remember you can use the spyglass symbol at the top of the page next to the TrustedHousesitters logo and search for any questions that you may have as they have most likely already been answered on here and of course if not then please just ask!
Hi Samox, thanks for your message. At the moment we have no idea where we will go abroad yet but living in England, if it’s long distance we wouldn’t want to go for less than 2 weeks. Looking on the website, we often find that people only want a few days’ sit at a time…
Hi @SarahKD you are very welcome.
There are many different lengths of sits available, they range from an overnight to a few days to a few weeks or several months or even a year plus! Our next sit will be an international sit for over 5 weeks so they are certainly on there!
I understand completely! We are traveling the world and at first, we applied for shorter sits to get started. Now we’re focusing on longer sits as the travel gets to be too expensive for short sits. We’re currently in a 28 day sit following a 21 day sit. In a couple cases, taking a shorter sit has led to a longer sit (on the islands or Crete and Jersey)
We’ve had pretty good luck getting longer sits and finding shorter ones to fill in the gaps. We initially had 3 sits in New Zealand scheduled over a 3 month period with about 2 1/2 week gap but found an 8 day sit.
I use the search function to help locate longer sits and we’re currently booked up through the end of the year.
Have fun
Dan and Nan
That’s fantastic. My husband and I are hoping to do more long sit abroad once he’s retired, but it’s a few years away yet…
