Hi! I am a new homeowner on here and have been browsing the sitters that have saved my property. I notice some have reviews that actually show which state the homeowner lives in along with a nice review, but others just have a nice review, but the owner does not list their state where they reside. Why is that? Just curious.

That would probably be the character reviews. Those are personal reviews from connections from outside the THS platform. Sitters are encouraged to get a few character reviews while putting together their listing for the first time. So those reviews might be from family/friends/co-workers etc., and not from THS hosts.

As well as the reasons given by @Garfield for them being personal references, especially when first joining THS, they can also be references from pet owners on other pet sitting sites where the sitter has forwarded a THS reference link to them after completing their sit. This is something I have done a number of times, having explained why to the owner and never had anyone refuse to do this.
