Host insists sitters stay overnight before departure... has this happened to anyone else?

From the THS Help section on Handovers:

Pre-sit handovers usually include a tour of the home and an introduction to the pets, if they’ve not met their sitter yet. For simpler sits, handovers may only need to be an hour before the pet parents departure. In other cases, members may want to spend a whole day together — it’s up to both members to decide. If it is agreed by both members, then this could even include an overnight stay before the sit starts.

Numerous times I have arrived the evening before the cat owners would depart, and spend the night at their home in the guest room. I nearly always enjoy it. It’s a great way to connect with the owners, often have some interesting conversations etc.

In fact, it’s pretty much the default way I do catsitting; it’s much much less common that I arrive after the owners have left.

Maybe, but these hosts clearly did.

All our previous sits (with dogs) had an overnight with hosts. My husband was floored during discussions for an up coming sit (with a cat) to discover this was not expected or even possible  good thing I’m on the forum and therefore understand the variables

I have no problem overlapping, in fact I enjoy it as part of the experience, especially on international sits, where I get to have an improved multicultural experience.

I’m indeed convinced that THS it’s a matching platform and, of course

I don’t even need to understand why HOs have certain requirements, I just accept them and confirm or say we’re not a good match and move on.
I would not be particularly bothered, certainly not shocked, if during the chat we discovered that we are not a good match.

But I do believe

And, generally, that’s THS advice.

I also believe THS is inconsistent:
