Housesitter just to water plants and pick up mail?

The OP replied high up in the thread and didn’t refute the idea that they didn’t want someone staying overnight, so I’m guessing that was the case.

Ah! Yea…no point in anyone accepting that. Not sure what the appeal would be to travel out and care for someone’s space for nothing. Maybe I’m still missing something but I see no benefit in accepting a “Sit” like that.

Yup, it’s a nervy request to make of strangers.

That’s a favor if done even by friends and family. And if so, I’d expect to reciprocate in some way, out of good manners.

At our request, neighbors grabbed an Amazon package from our doorstep while we were away and we thanked them with a bottle of wine.
