Just curious if anybody has a way to do this. we are currently on the West Coast USA and can extend our trip by another month, but I can’t find any sits that would work for us. In the past I was able to reach out to homeowners in the area and offer any dates they might want for this coming month but I don’t see a way to do that anymore. in the past, we were able to get a couple of good sits that way because people took advantage of us being in the area to do some short trips.
There is no way to do what you are describing.
Keep looking! You might also check out Facebook groups. There is a thread on the Forum about alternative ways to find sits.
I’m confused by and curious about what you could do in the past that you can’t do now.
Me too. I don’t think that’s ever been possible. HOs can reach out to sitters but not the other way round
Try joining an appropriate Facebook group and post your requirements.
I’m not sure where you want to be on the West Coast, but there are a ton of sits available in the San Francisco area.
Thank you I saw that San Fran is too big for us!
You might have done it already - but changing your location to where you want to be and/ or to favorite listings in that area could work in your favor.
I think it was when you could apply for an overlapping sit, I would write and if the HO had flexible dates and thought we were a good fit we would work something out. THS could add a spot for last minute availability in areas that HO could go to if they wanted to look for a sitter for a last minute trip.
Where do you want to be? What part of the West Coast?
There are tons of sits available on the West Coast. All types of sits. I am very surprised that you cannot find anything that suits you.
It’s the time frame, we are trying to tag onto our current sits plus are allergic to cats!! It’s us being fussy!
You’d probably have better luck on Nextdoor or Facebook local groups. You’re trying for a local sit that matches your timing and has only a cat(s). Those numbers probably would be low even if you could contact hosts on THS, which you can’t.
