If you look carefully the dog is actually trying to control the human with his teeth, that’s aggression and can potentially be dangerous even though it seems ā€œcuteā€ to some.

I’m sorry to say that based on previous actions, I don’t have a great deal of confidence in your interpretations of pet behavior — so we’ll agree to disagree.

I’d take this sit in a heartbeat.

Lenny is a retriever breed. These dogs love to carry things in their mouths - it is what they were bred to do. This is an extension of this behaviour.

A quick search produced this

Golden Retrievers carry items in their mouths due to their breeding as hunting dogs, which gifted them a natural ā€œsoft mouthā€ instinct to carry game without damage. This behavior persists today as a way for them to show excitement, express affection, feel calm, or initiate play.

As a Golden owner this is true. They are bred for their soft mouths and carrying / retrieving things (even humans sometimes, as Lenny is doing here) is very natural expression for them.

Nothing this dog is doing in this video is aggression. Anyone who suggests otherwise should not be a pet sitter at all. Aggressive dogs do not ā€˜control’ with their teeth, they bite either to aggress or for defense.

As a side note they are sharks to the extreme as puppies as they explore with their mouths and it takes some time for them to learn to be gentle but most usually do.
