Hi @Tessah
Welcome to the TrustedHousesitters forum.
Sorry to hear about this. Our amazing community may be able to share their experience and offer support, however I think Member Support will be best placed to help.
Has anyone followed up since you last spoke to them?
Thanks,
Mark.
I think you dont need to loose hope - many last minute sits are available. Fair, I am a very experienced sitter, so my experience is not completely relatable, but just couple of days ago I secured a sit to Amsterdam for a week. The listing was posted just 5 days before the start of the sit. Keep an open mind and be open to try places you would not have thought at first and you can still get a sit last minute. Also research transportation, unless you are driving: by being flexible you might find great prices for bus/plane/train even last minute.
Now, to your problem. Are you USA based, or not? (Different checks). I think not, as you talk of an ID check. Some people have had difficulties to send their ID to the check, but it sounds like you got that part down? I would probably do the sending again, but if there is a queue, this might mean that your ID goes to the back of it.
Keep pestering the Member Support. And when you finally do get trough and this is solved, complain that it took forever - you might be given couple of free months to soothe the annulment. To wait a week is definitely too long - 5 years ago I had the problem that I could not upload my ID photo, and it took a long time to really start using THS, which was stressful.
Only membership services can help with an issue like this. Usually the process is quick, because THS subcontracts out with a vendor that does such checks at mass scale. But delays can happen in individual cases, for a variety of reasons.
If I remember correctly, mine took only two or three days for the full background and criminal check for U.S.-based sitters. It’s similar to when I’ve had such checks done for employment — this vendor does many such checks as well.
This helped me a lot. Thanks!

It’s wonderful to see the community’s shared experiences and advice proving helpful. Hopefully, the original poster also managed to resolve their ID check smoothly.
