I reached a bit of a landmark today with 100 reviews. I started cat sitting in December 2021 so it took me about four and a half years to do 100 sits, some of which are repeats but still, it is 100 reviews!

From all those sits, are there any particularly special moments that stand out? 
Also, what are your top tips for newer members who feel that 100 sits/reviews feels like a very distant achievement.

Excellent! That’s amazing! We’re only onto 56 five star reviews, and we’ve been doing it over 3 years, although quite a number of ours are for longer durations.

Congratulations!!! I think THS needs to give one year free membership to either a sitter or host who makes it to 100. It looks like they were all in the UK and all with cats, is this correct?

The longest cat sit I did was 100 days / 3 months 10 days and I also did quite a few that were for 6 weeks. I think last year I did 4 sits of 6 weeks each so that took up 24 weeks / 6 months of the year and were good “anchors” between the shorter sits. Even though I only do cat sits, it has been possible to just about fill the year with sits and I also do mini breaks to Europe in between sits
In general, I like sits that are for 2-4 weeks
Yeh, we love the longer sits too. Newer THS HO’s sometimes presume we must have a busy life going from place to place… but it’s the total opposite when there’s lovely relaxing 4/6 week+ sits in between shorter stays. It doesn’t take many sits at all to fill up a whole year that way

Haha, I don’t expect THS to do that - they make just as much money in membership fees from a sitter who does just one sit per year compared to full-time nomadic sitters like me. I suspect they are aiming for a membership that is larger in number (leading to more membership fees) than members who do numerous sits per year 
Yes, all are cat sits in England, Wales, and Italy. I did some cat sits in France through another platform. I would love to do more cat sits in Europe but I find it challenging to jump in and apply in time (ie before the applications are closed off). Luckily I do a repeat cat sit in Italy and go there twice a year

Interesting that even a veteran housesitter like yourself finds it difficult to secure listings in Schengen area. THS - please increase marketing for THS pet parents!

How does your approach or process differ now to when you started out?
Cat sits in Italy, one of my favorite places, lucky you. I think someone like you who sits a lot and has 5 stars across the board would be good for THS. You help in the low applications or 0 applications that homeowners get a lot of. The hosts then stay on the platform and refer friends. I only do a few a year which helps with the low applications and no applications. If I was the CEO of THS I would honor you with a year membership to show thanks for doing a great job and contributing to our success!

hi GotYourBack, thanks! I’ll keep catsitting for a little while but probably not for another 100 sits. I am dreaming about buying a narrowboat and experiencing life on the canals!
My process has remained roughly the same but I am more aware of locations that are easy or hard to get to. I don’t drive a car so it is an important point for me that the host’s home is within easy walking distance of a bus stop or train station. Also, I tend to favour cat sits in locations near a river or canal as I love walking along canal towpaths or rivers - the terrain is flat and it is interesting to see all the canalboats and birds - I love to see swans, geese, coots, ducks, and moorhens etc. I like to do sits in London from time to time because then I can go to see exhibitions or plays during the sit.
All the cats are beautiful so that is the easiest part of choosing a cat sit!

FYI - if you have driving license - many of our UK (and other) housesits have included use of pet parent vehicle. Sometimes, if rural sit, we simply ask in video call and pet parent often reflects and agrees. Your 100+ reviews and inherent vast experience are probably attractive to pet parents.
Noted re canals. We were chatting about the joys of waterways just yesterday. Last year we completed an enjoyable housesit in Portishead (marina-based community near Bristol). Photo yesterday from local waterday (one of great many) in delightful Stockholm, and its numerous ferries. Happy days
