Hi @hillsidejp,
That initial feeling of “What have I/they done!”, is a completely natural response to a big change. A 6 month + adventure of new places and routines might feel strange at first, but I’d recommend throwing yourselves whole heartedly into it, and telling keep reminding yourself it’s an opportunity, as opposed to listening to the fears of others, and continue interpreting it as excitement.
10 years ago when I decided to go travelling and get into pet sitting, my friends didn’t get it at first, but some family members did, and there’s a whole community of HO, pet sitters and animal carers you’ll meet that shows it’s a way of life and it starts to normalise it. You’ll make new contacts in different places and even connections who’ll keep in touch with. Have fun on this adventure and enjoy meeting all those lovely experiences
Hi, I’m Goldie and i have been house sitting for 3 years. I’m ready to go out the country and explore on different levels. I’m here to network and find friends to learn more about myself and goals .
Hello, I live in Northern California and am in new to Trusted House sitters but have house sat and taken care of people’s animals for years I have my first house sit already! I have questions regarding cleaning (staying 4 nights) and washing bedding etc. I want to be the perfect house and pet sitter. I’m interested in connecting with people across the globe. I have, UK, US and EU citizenship. I have family in India, Thailand and Ireland. I’ve traveled to Thailand, the EU, Mexico and Central America, Morocco and Turkey and love exploring new places. Any comments on my profile is welcome and appreciated! Thank you!
My name is William. I have recently joined THS.
I am a retired guy who is still excited about life, travel and meeting people and pets.
I am about to set off across Europe on my motorcycle from the UK on a slow meandering path to Turkey and beyond. No time limits, just follow the good weather and hopefully find some nice pet owners who would like me to sit for them..
From now until the winter I will occasionally be looking for places to stay for anywhere from 1 day to a month or more, no rush. I’ll even deviate from my planned rout to accommodate anyone in need, wether is is house sitting or people in trouble.
I will be mostly camping but my bones need a soft bed now and then.
So save me and if you can’t find a sitter in Europe you never know I might be in your neighborhood.
Hi! I’m Sabriel. I’m a 30 year old recording artist from the US.
I have been able to travel to London a few times over the years and I am dying to have an extended stay out there as something about it just feels like home. I love music. I make soul, funk, r&b tunes. Recently discovered I am totally a cat person, so I’m loving being able to house sit for people with cats. This is just a very cool app. Happy to be here.
Roger and I have been sitting since 2021. Our life story together began in 1974 as 14/16 year old teenagers back in CT. Fast forward a few years to marriage, living overseas in Germany as a military couple, then finally settling back in the states to raise our two children near family. That little taste of life in another country, set our retirement goals to travel non-stop. I had a cat and dog as a child, and together we adopted kitties when our children were younger, and have also cared for family pets for decades. We found THS a few months before Roger retired, and we have been on the road for the last 3 years.
In 2025, we began adding more travel without petsitting, utilizing Airbnb stays for a month at a time. Our favorite place to revisit is Scotland, and we recently added Albania to our list of longterm stays. We’ve found a good mix of cruising, petsitting, visiting family and just enjoying slow travel around the world. Finally started a YouTube channel and it’s a fun hobby to document this lifestyle. I love making videos and wish I’d started it many years ago
As a Scotswoman, I’m really pleased that you and Roger enjoy return visits to the country! @Mark_B from the team also lives in Scotland
I’ve removed the link you shared as our guidelines mean you can’t share a link, but it’s fine for you to share the name of your channel - I’ve edited your post with that in mind.
I’ll go and take a look at some of your adventures later!
Thanks @Jenny I wasn’t quite sure if that link was allowed. We do love Scotland and have been visiting since 2013. It’s lovely to be invited back for another sit
I’m originally from Greater Manchester and moved ‘north of the wall’ over 10 years ago.
I’m now based just outside Edinburgh and it’s great. Edinburgh is a gorgeous city centre. It’s not too busy and having the festival in town every year is such a treat.
Head in almost any other direction and there’s rolling hills and glorious countryside… despite all of that, I will endlessly complain about the weather.
We actually travel there for the weather @Mark_B because the mild summers are lovely!!! Edinburgh is our favorite spot, and we typically fly in/out of there. We have plans to be there next week, before continuing on to Glasgow for our first pet sit of the summer. The next 2 months in the UK are perfect for us!
