Normally if you open the list of options for pet sitting, I swipe up and can choose ‘map’ and check locations available on the map in the world.
That function has disappeared. I figured out that nowadays you have to search per country and then check the options. Then I got a question to give feedback how it works. I wonder if all available sits are showing on the map. I check regularly on sits nearby and there were quite a lot. Suddenly there are 0 sits in Latin America (we are staying in Costa Rica) and only sits in the USA.
When I want to give feedback I got this page without a possibility to give feedback. But what can I say

@EmilyDickinson When I click on Find a house sit tab, the View map text is embedded in the middle of the text of the centred listing in the first row. I’m on a MacBook Air.
Yes, poorly placed, I agree, but that’s where I found it. It then opens up the map.
I just expanded the map to view the area covered by Costa Rica and eight listings are shown.

Thanks. Apparently this doesn’t show on my iPhone. But what works on my iPhone is: search plus /Beta. I have to check my computer - also Apple - later.
Yes! The map is changed. Not for the good. You have to search for something before you get the map. And when you do get the map, you don’t see the slideshow of listings underneath like you used to.
At the risk of appearing a bit of a geography nerd, Scandinavia is just Denmark Norway and Sweden and does not include Finland. Scandinavia is a recognised geographic region, so ought to be searchable, but regional searches like this (both within and across countries) have always been inconsistent in the THS mapping functionality.
Scandinavia plus Finland and Iceland is usually referred to as the Nordic countries.
I didn’t know that about the countries that form Scandinavia, thanks. Apparently, one reason why Finland isn’t included is that it’s a different language group and not north-Germanic.
Yes apparently Finland is in a language group with Estonia and Hungary if I remember rightly. Sounds completely unlike any of the 3 main language groups in Europe.

Hi Debbie, thanks for explaining. You are absolutely right! My Swedish and Finnish ancestors would turn in their graves because of my mistake

@Snowbird Yes, i now figured out how it works. Searching on ‘Anywhere’ doesn’t give you the map feature.
Searching on a country or continent does, and on the phone you can swipe up and the map feature is available for that continent or region.
It just takes more time when you are flexible time and location wise, like we are. But at least it is there. Thanks!
