As sitters with THS for 10 years we just arrived at a local sit today and encountered a new challenge that we hadn’t had before. We were a bit concerned but atlas a Youtube video solved our problem! We were preparing salmon burgers for our meal and frying them in a pan and put a pot lid on the frying pan. Couldn’t find a pan lid anywhere. Everything was going great and looking forward to our dinner and couldn’t get the damn lid off the frying pan. Tried for a half hour and finally resorted to a youtube video to get it off and it worked like a charm - atlas the lid was free and our salmon burgers were still intact for us to enjoy. It’s never a dull moment house sitting. Anyone else have funny stories to share.

No problem - I’ll never put a pot lid on a pan again

Not my sit:
A friend called and asked how to use a manual can opener — this was back in the day before video calling and countless YouTube videos on how to do X. She had grown up with electric openers and never used a manual one.
I tried walking her through over the phone, but it’s hard without visuals and she couldn’t understand. So she ultimately had to knock on a neighbor’s door so she could open the can and get the cat fed.

Aha. This is one of my Sod’s Laws of Pet-Sitting: However many frying-pans the HOs possess, even if they’re all clearly designed to have lids… There will not be a frying-pan lid within a six-mile radius.
