I hear you @SoloGal!
Humidity in Scotland is pretty much year-round, but it does vary by season. In winter, the humidity is often high, but because it’s cold, it tends to feel raw and damp rather than muggy. Spring can still be fairly humid, but we do get some of the clearest and crispest days of the year around that time. Summer is our driest season, though it’s still humid by most countries’ standards. We get more variation, some warm sticky days and some lovely fresh ones. Autumn brings the humidity back again.
I think where you are in Scotland makes a big difference, too! The west coast and islands like Skye and the Hebrides are a lot wetter and more humid year-round (in my experience!), with some spots among the wettest in Europe. The east coast around Edinburgh and Aberdeen is noticeably drier, though it doesn’t always feel like it!

Hi everyone! I am from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. I’ve house/pet sitted in the Cork area of Ireland and returning to another sit in Cork City this summer (both by word of mouth). Unfortunately, these were booked before I discovered THS, so I can provide references, but I am excited to see so many opportunities to sit in so many places.🤩

I am originally from the Netherlands, but I emigrated to Spain four years ago. In April, we welcomed our first house sitters, and they were truly wonderful people. In July, we will be welcoming our second house sitter, and we are very much looking forward to it.
One thing I have noticed within the TrustedHousesitters community is that a lot of emphasis is placed on reviews. Of course, I understand that reviews are important, but everyone has to start somewhere. We were new to the platform, just as our first house sitters were. The house sitter coming in July is also relatively new.
Our experience has shown us that a good conversation, mutual trust, and a positive feeling are just as important as a long list of reviews. Sometimes the most reliable and enthusiastic people are those who simply have not had the opportunity yet to build up many reviews.
I hope that both homeowners and house sitters will not rely solely on reviews, but will also be open to giving new members a chance. In the end, a great match is built on trust, communication, and the feeling you have about one another.

I am welsh/swiss. Grew up in north wales, on the edge of snowdonia. Have lived in sheffield, south yorkshire for a disturbingly long time now.

Well sheffield is obviously the best but depends what you are into! Sheffield has become a real foodie destination iver the last couple of years.
