We’ve taken 2 long trips, 2-3 months at a time. First trip was to Iowa for a family reunion and spent a lot of time coming back to CA. Stopped at Black Hills, South Dakota for a week, then to Glacier National Park for 10 days. Made our way through Idaho, Washington and through Oregon. Spent a little time in Northern California before coming home to So Cal.
Our second trip was all the way cross the country to Maine. We stopped in several places to visit family nd friends before arriving to Maine. Then came down the Eastern seaboard through PA, Virginia, Tennessee, OK, New Mexico, Arizona and back home.
Same and yes we don’t ‘Wally Dock’ but have done an overnight at a Love’s when we couldn’t find a Harvest Host. I sure hope they don’t change it. We were at a great HH when the news broke and they just shook there heads, like, probably not going to work for us anymore. They already have too many coming and not not patronizing the business. We have no issue with the patronizing and usually end up with a bigger bill then we would have gotten booking a campsite
Oh we loved the Black Hills in SD! Want to spend more time there next time we pass through! Sounds like some good trips already - we have Maine in our sights for 2028 - so I’m sure you’ll get out on the road again when you can!
Flagstaff, Arizona sits at 7k feet elevation, so in early October the weather is ideal - 70 degrees and sunny. We arrived and participated in a golden retriever meet-up. A few hundred Goldens, all chilling out together. Then wandering downtown Flagstaff (which is awesome, by the way, so walkable!) sampling the awesome breweries of Flagstaff. I’m in love with 'Arizona Lager’s after this event!
And hanging around hundreds of golden retrievers…heaven on earth!!
I’ve just seen a sit that has cats and promotes their USP as offering offers beautiful outdoor space for an RV - you never know you could end up still using THS as sitters if these kind of opportunities come up in the locations that you want to visit . This one is in Colorado .
It would be good for THS if they offered this as an amenity / filter so sitters who travel with an RV can find these sit opportunities.
We could but don’t want to We want to be on our own schedule and have our own pets to look after, so sitting would fit how we want to travel right now. But for others I can see it making sense so a filter would be a great idea!
A couple of days in Cottonwood, AZ camped at a state park just outside of Sedona. Some horseback riding and a morning hot air balloon ride over lovely Sedona to view the amazing and magical red rock.
Sedona is so dog friendly, with many places having a dog menu in addition to a human menu. Here is my girl (who was welcomed to dine inside with us since the patio was full) enjoying 'Fido’s Favorite’s - grilled chicken and carrots.
