If they can affford to travel, I think they can afford the electricity bill…
Everyone is different. For me I would never pay for utilities. Not only am I gifting you and your pets 24/7 care in a familiar environment, I am also maintaining your home and keeping your property secure. The savings and psychological benefit to the pet related to not having to send the pet/s to a kennel or cattery… we are talking hundreds of dollars a week. I can get paid over 100 to board a dog for a day… So if an owner doesn’t have the respect to pay for the basics like utilities, which are required for a sitter to do the task they are asked to do - for free - I have no interest in assisting them.
Please report them to THS if they recorded you without consent and also for asking for money.
This happened to me once in reverse and an HS mentioned that on a previous sit their HO bought all their food for them. They asked me if I would be paying for their food and I was like………no.
Note: HS are allowed to eat whatever they want of our stuff barring our wines, alcohols and anything they wouldn’t be able to replace like for like,I.e. specialty items. But yea,…I was sure caught off guard with that one!
We went with another sitter.
I think what’s odd to me about this is if they wanted you to pay, they should have just said that and called it out in their profile. The way they brought this up and tried to push you into it is super slimy imo.
