Question: how to ignore some members permanently?

If you hit ignore for a user, it asks for a timeframe. Is there a way to permanently ignore a user? I can only see an up to 3 month timeframe?

I’m on the website on computer @Felinelover and I could ignore a user “Forever”.

Hmm, maybe another difference on the phone app. Doesn’t give me that choice!

I guess I’ll have to log in on the web version when I’m able to. Frustrating, should be able to do the same on either, argh!

Thank you @temba . Where have you found it? I’ve clicked on someone but can’t see any option to ignore - not that I want to but I’m just curious. Ah, I’ve found it now. I’m using the website but on my phone and like @Felinelover it only gives me a maximum 3 month option.

I still can’t fix this. Just want to block one member but can only do it for a maximum of 6 months. Can someone help with permanent? Unfortunately I am on the road for another month or more and don’t know when I can be at my laptop again. Frustrating.

Hi everyone!

I’ve double-checked things and can confirm this isn’t something we’ve limited on our end.

The maximum time limit through your own settings is built into the forum software itself, capped at a few months with no permanent option available that way. Other communities using the same software have asked for this too, so it’s a known gap.

For anyone using the ignore function… the workaround for now is just re-adding the ignore once it expires, which I know isn’t ideal. What I can also do on my end is manually extend someone’s ignore to permanent where it’s warranted, so if your ignore lapses and that person becomes a problem again, please pop me a DM with details and I’ll take care of it directly rather than you having to manage it alone.

I’ll keep an eye on any updates to the forum software, as a permanent option available to everyone would be a sensible addition.
