I’ve just reported a Listing local to me, x5 dogs of which x3 belong to the Host but x2 belong to the lodger who works long shifts so the dogs need company!
Also one dog can’t be left alone at all….
I’ll be interested to see what THS makes of this particular listing. I’ll also be interested to see if anyone applies, as the Host is offering for the sitter to stay beyond the dates in order to go and do tourist stuff.
And yes it’s a new Host so no Reviews to date.
How ridiculous! I would imagine noone will apply, but you never know! Please keep us informed here @BonnyinBrighton
That’s nuts. Is the lodger in the home? Not ok.
If the location is good you’d be surprised what people still apply for. I’m forever amazed. I see people apply for sits with barely any photos at all, sits with roommates, sits where pets can’t be left alone, sits with dozens of cats or dogs…it’s wild!!
I have read posts about sitters spending 2-3 days cleaning, washing, and sanitizing their hosts’ homes after arriving to a filthy home, rather than cancelling the sit, or at minimum leaving an honest review of its condition, because the sit was in a large metropolitan city. I can’t imagine doing that myself. But someone out there not only did it but felt no compunction or resentment in doing it, enough to post it in the forums. It almost sounded like they were grateful they got the sit, and spending 2 days to make the home liveable was a price they were happy to pay. This horrifies me. The standards for hosts should be no different just for being in a particular location. When sitters accept these conditions and leave 5 stars reviews with pride (?) that they deep-cleaned a host’s home because of its location, this has the potential to snowball into something very undesirable for sitters going forward on this platform.
