Shared housing

Hi everyone,

I used to be a host in berlin and recently relocated to Amsterdam.

I share a flat on two levels, the place is very big (130sqm).

The sitter would have 2 private rooms, they can be locked and no one needs to walk through them to get to the shared spaces. There is also no need to walk through my housemates rooms and there would be a private toilet for the sitter.

The only shared places are the bathroom with shower on the lower level and the kitchen on the upper floor.

Do you think this is something that could be offered on ths as I know that technically sitters need to be alone there?

Thank you!

Sorry to be the wet blanket but It’s clearly against the rules.

Your current residence does not sound like an appropriate fit for a THS sitter.

No need to be sorry, I asked to find out and make sure whether it’s okay or not

I’m sure you’d have no problem finding someone on one of the facebook house sitting groups or nomadic/travel groups like Go with Less, Senior Nomads, etc. who would be willing to accept this roommate scenario in very expensive Amsterdam!

@Sandraott, as @MaggieUU noted then THS Third Party Policy expressly notes:
“Once a sitter has begun their sit, we require that the pet parent(s) have vacated the property for the entirety of the stay and no other individuals (apart from the confirmed sitters) are present during the sit.” (URL per Maggie comment).

If you secure a THS housesitter without mentioning third party then they may well raise a “member dispute” (breach of THS Terms of Service). This would trouble you and may well get you kicked off the platform.

That said, there are other platforms that have lesser disclosures, policies, reviews and oversight. One of those seems more suited to your situation.

I feel like I’ve seen this listing. I came across one just recently that was shared accommodation with a “locked room”.
As noted, it’s a “no” for THS.
Is there some reason the housemates can’t take care of your pet(s)?

No you have not. As mentioned before, I wanted to double check before listing anything. And I don’t even live there yet

And my house mate is my house mate not my dog sitter!? Also, I understood now, there is no need to keep commenting.

shared bathroom??? Just NO.
