While THS gets a bit of bad press over < worsening > of the perform they should also get credit when things seem to be moving in the right direction.
The map looks much better. What would be nice is if you could draw an area as per the image attached Also being able to save the search area from the map would be great.
Unfortunately I’m having inconsistent & frustrating issues with the new map functionality; its head seems to explode when trying to zoom in/out after one or more tries.
Agree that your described functionality would be ideal; as it’s been requested so many times one would like to think it might get some attention.
Well, … I just had a look on Edge, which has never worked that well for me, and the map still has no useful zoomage controls. I can double-click the hand, and it will magnify, but there’s no way to zoom back out again.
I’d like to know what browser people who think it’s improved are using.
For the past year or so, Brave has been my browser of choice. It is built on the Chromium engine, supports all standard Chrome extensions, and, above all, offers a built-in VPN, blocks ads and trackers, and blocks malicious scripts by default. Because there is no background clutter, pages load noticeably faster.
Another browser I use is Opera GX
p.s. I personally wouldn´t touch Edge. Edge is also the first app I uninstall when I buy a new laptop
Hey @Mark_B …maybe it would be helpful to post a few screenshots of what users of the new maps should see, if it’s only rolled out to a small subset of users. That way people don’t spend time trying to test it if they don’t have it…?
So, like, 12 km?
Maybe it depends on what the options are when listing, like mabe things are lumped into a more major centre…? Or what city the HO selects? I recently saw a listing that is 115 km from the city it’s listed as. Although I didn’t look at the map, just looked at the listing because of the stated location.
@Mark_B will there be any updates to the website map?? I prefer to look at things on something bigger than a teeny phone screen.
Why? I started using it more because it seems to be faster than Firefox, at least on my laptop, but I think it does a lot of tracking or … something … as it throws up a lot of creepifyingly related suggested articles on new tabs.
I think I’ve heard of Brave but never used it. I’ll have a look.
Sure thing, here’s a video that guides you through the new look and feel
One aspect that I like is that the earth feels more like a globe, rather than a map.
I’ll also share some snippets taken from this post;
Once you receive the update, you’ll see that the map also refreshes as you browse, so you’re always seeing up-to-date results and you’ll also be able to see which listings you’ve already visited.
Map pins will continue to be based on broader locations like a town or city, and the carousel will appear once the listings are shown at the local level, this keeps things cleaner as you browse.
If you’re amongst the first members to use the improved map, click the “feedback” button in the app to let us know how you’re finding it.
