I’ve never arrived to have no guidelines. But I give home owners a little message about 4 weeks before the sit to complete the Welcome Pack. If they happen to say they are writing their own notes, then that is totally fine, but I give them a little subtle nudge again a week beforehand too.
I’ve only had one HO not have a guide. It made me uncomfortable; I had met them prior to go over items and it took half a day (4 hours with drive time) and one of the HO’s was…difficult. I felt the refusal to provide a guide prior, so everything was in writing, was a sign they were adding things without my consent as it was a large property. I contacted THS with concern and they were completely dismissive.
It was fine in the end but I don’t get why they wouldn’t put it in writing prior. I won’t accept that moving forward. It just shows disrespect for the guest and was unneeded stress when I had been very accommodating.
I always want to see the Welcome Guide far in advance to clarify any questions I have or ask questions that are left out. I really wish homeowners would complete the Welcome Guide thoroughly, or write another document – that contains all the information needed. It is frustrating and stressful to not have all the information we need.
Someone on this Forum has a prepared Word document with basic categories that can be sent to the Owner for completion, easier than the THS Welcome Guide.
Who? Is there a way to share this Word document on the Forum? I would love to have that, or I will create my own.
If you will reveal yourself, I can DM you with my email address.
@PVGemini I think you are referring to @Itchyfeet
