Correct! That way I keep my stellar reputation of Moderator and Muckraker
Gosh have I dated myself once again?
Is Saturday night live still around?
I’m not up on the latest sitcoms or whatever late night comedy shows are popular. Can’t stay up that late
Nope. Heightened awareness and open discussion is needed.
Then secret codes become useless.
@Amparo Yes, it is still around, apparently (if Wikipedia is to be believed). It’s not my style of humour though. However, it was more the use of acronyms I was teasing you about.
I chose James Corden to be more globally aware. He has been in the US for years now but recently finished his show there and hopped the pond and did some London UK shows. I just watch snippets of shows on YouTube, as I do with most shows - minimal ads & I can watch at my convenience.
I catch snippets of him on reels on Instagram and Fb (secret code for I’m a scroller and love my evening giggles)
This is incredibly helpful feedback. Thanks so much for taking the time to craft such a thoughtful response.
I love this!
Hi @melodie1983 and a warm welcome to the forum! We’d love to get to know you more so please feel free to say hello in our Introduce Yourself category. Are you house sitting already? If you need any help don’t hesitate to ask our helpful members! All the best, Vanessa and the team
“Got it” or figured it out.
I thought of a code today for dog walking:
It took a few days to find our rhythm.
Meaning: “them dawgs are nowhere near as good at walkies as the owners suggested”
“My upper body strength training benefited from our daily walks.”
“Who needs Uber when you can get from point A to point B by being dragged down the sidewalk by [dog]?”
Brilliant! I just left a review like this because I really did enjoy the sit and wanted only good terms with the hosts but the bed was too small for a couple and the guest room was a little cramped. I just stated the exact bed size
I agree with you about the reviews. It seems like sit and sitter is a five star. We have had maybe a dozen sitters, and some have been fabulous, really lovely people who we enjoyed meeting and we still correspond. Some have been fine, meaning the house and the dogs were fine when we returned, just maybe we didn’t have as much rapport. They both get five stars. Sometimes it’s difficult, cause it’s not that the sitter did anything wrong, it’s just like they didn’t seem to care as much about the dogs, and communicate that she was actually caring for them, walking them, etc. when I get home everything seems ok, but then later, neighbors day they never saw her walk them once. It could just be a coincidence that the neighbors never saw her with the dogs, but still it makes you wonder. i wish the review system would prompt you to say what could have been better.
We once had a home owner that left us an encyclopedia of information. 5 cats with all different needs/wants. Sometime too much information is not good so we said something like ‘once we got our head around all the information in the welcome guide …’. It ended up alright but just seemed so complicated at the time.
Or, just ask the sitter instead of having spies.
On a sit, a neighbor that was supposed to be available to assist me was instead spying on me. I don’t know if she took on this role herself or if the HO had requested. I was in regular contact with the HO. The one day I left the house for more than 30 minutes, she went over and looked into the home, and sent me a nasty text claiming that the dog looked “anxious”. I told the HO I didn’t appreciate being surveilled.
Urgh. How awful. Why didn’t they just ask the neighbour to dog sit?! No one needs to be subjected to that sort of ‘supervision’. It’s such a miserable, mean spirited thing to do to someone.
Multicultural, ethnic and cosmopolitan areas are three very different things.
Lively bars nearby means Irish pubs with people outside until early morning.
Conveniently located flat many times is a nice way to say “I dont live in the city centre but whatever? This is close enough”.
Brilliant
I would absolutely opt IN for contacting other sitters and being contacted.
I think this is possibly the only way to get and give truly honest information. People can choose not to participate - I don’t think that insinuates anything other than their privacy and not wanting to get messages -
Everyone’s level of cleanliness, for example, is very different. I am NOT going to give my opinion on this in a public review on THS, but I may describe the home to a potential sitter.
I had a sit recently where the sheets, pillow cases and comforters were COVERED in cat fur. The firs thing I did upon arrival is strip the bed and wash everything.
I have had dirty kitchens. By my standard they were dirty. But I am not going to say this in my review. Maybe to some people it was not a big deal and to others it is.
So, yes, I think person to person contact should be possible!
Can somebody answer a possibly already answered question for me please? If you have “saved” a sit, can the owners see that you have saved their non-current/“reviewing” listing? Sorry if this is a repetitive question!
