Snakes alive!

This amazingly warm weather has brought forward strawberry ripening but also snakes are now basking in the sun too!

Some good advice here when walking with your dog in UK.

Grass snakes are non - venomous. They will therefore be no threat at all, if sighted. Slow worms are non venomous. These comments from experts are helpful to get things in perspective.

Thanks for this!

Thank you. I hate people saying, ā€œonly good snake is a dead snakeā€. I’ve dealt with snakes (both venomous and non-venomous) my whole adult life and they are fascinating and beautiful creatures. I wish I could find a sit that involved snakes, but I’ve never seen any.

As stated, if you see a snake, just leave it alone and you’ll be fine. The idiots bitten by venomous snakes are the ones who are messing with. Yes, there are exceptions.

There’s a really nice sit in Central Hong Kong with a big snake & a small dog that we considered. #snakecuddles

Oh dear, as an OZ, there are ā€˜bad’ snakes and ā€˜badder’ snakes! Not for me…ever! ( still traumatised at 70+ years from brothers putting de-headed babyTiger snakes in my Gumboots ( UK’ites, that’s Wellingtons!)when I was a wee girl!).

I love them too! I put this pic on my desk at work right before my nasty boss fired me! Ha!

Here’s a ladder helping a snake back up!

Pet sitting in Australia, anyone?
This one was uninvited on the sit!

So lucky to have Lily to deal with any red slithery creatures here!

Also, something to consider, when mowing the grass in spring-summer, check your lawn for snakes and possibly frogs. I do that to make sure I’m not going to mulch any poor little critter. A concern with young birds that have left the nest and baby bunnies.

Also, spraying chemicals on the lawn ain’t good for any critters, especially pollinators. I hate seeing those yellow flags on lawns.

Love pets, love wildlife.
