My previous pet sitter broke a wall and he tried to threaten neighbors.
He did took care of my pets but caused a lot of problems in my house.
After the pet sitting, he’s been inactive on the app and THS couldn’t help me.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I just don’t know what to do.
Yes, they called the police and police came but he didn’t speak the language so they couldn’t do anything with him.
And he claims that that’s cultural difference and misunderstanding.
What solution are you looking for? If he caused damage to your home, that should be covered by insurance, I think. Ideally he’d cover any deductible, but if he’s gone dark that probably won’t happen. Have you been clear with THS about the solution you’re looking for?
Welcome @Mofumofu415 ! I am very sorry that you’ve had this experience.
I am not sure what action or solution you are looking for, so just some suggestions. Is the sitter still on your property or has he left?
If he is on your property and you want him removed that is police-matter and the police must adress it. Likewise with threatening neighbors. You might also want to file something at the police for damages, possibly, but I agree that that probably is a matter for your insurance company. Your alternative is probably filing a lawsuit, possibly in another country, which will be difficult and costly and it might not generate any form of compensation for you, for instance if the sitter does not have any money.
For THS your option is to officially file a member dispute as already mentioned. It must be a formal dispute opened, not “only an e-mail”. That will possibly result in the sitter being kicked out from the platform, but that is it (unless you have a premium membership and that will cover something. But the terms there would require that your first try other insurances you might have, I believe).
Again - so sorry this happened to you. I can imagine it was possibly a new sitter(?), it is hard to believe that something like this would have happened with an experienced sitter with many good reviews? Usually, sits are good for both parties, with lovely interactions with pets (and an occasional complaint of dust on a shelf or missed breadcrumbs), so it is so hard to hear of your experience.
Hello! Thank you for answering my question!
I asked THS to file him on the app not to happen like that again with other sitters but he’s inactive now so they couldn’t do anything with him.
And we need more information to report him even if he left this country or not.
My neighbors feel unsafe at home because he knows my address already.
And thank you for the information!
The message made me really happy.
He was not a new sitter, he has done a couple of pet sitting in his home country.
But he seems like going out every day and he was drunk all the time on his trip.
I understand that he wanted to enjoy his trip in different country but I wish he could respect for my house and other neighbors.
