To every user with a membership about to expire

I’m telling you something about your membership, coming from a direct experience of a friend/sitter.

This friend has a very close expiring date (December 19th) but also a sit already arranged for January.

After asking the owner (of course) what to do to avoid paying one more year and being affected by the new booking fee rule, they together decided to go on and stay with the sit.

So, after contacting the support team twice (because the first one support closed the conversation before finishing), we discovered that

since we are required to give members 30 days’ notice before changes take effect, the renewal in which booking fees will apply would be your 2026 renewal and not the upcoming one

So my friend could renew NOW and this new rule won’t apply until NEXT renew. But we could obtain this just contacting again and again the support.
If you are experiencing something similar, now you know you can get the new rules to be applied to the next renew.

I hope this helps many users.

I interpret this to mean that because your friend’s renewal is going to happen less than 30 days from when the new Booking Fees were introduced, they won’t be implemented on his account until their next renewal date on December 19, 2026, thus giving them about a year and 12 days worth of “no booking fee membership”.

That’s not anything to do with contacting tech support, it’s about THS having to give 30 day notice after a fee change is rolled out and will only be helpful to members whose renewals are within 30 days of a new fee structure. The most any member will get is a 30 day extension.

Hello!

Just popping on to confirm that what @giuvax says is correct, also just to mention that renewals happening on or after 7th January 2026 will pay the booking fee (aside from Premium).

So some people start paying booking fees next month and others not for a year. That seems really wrong that members will be paying different amounts for the same service.

@Jenny so if we wanted to pay our renewal by the end of the month, if renewal date isn’t until say March 2026, we can’t renew that now, too far away from my understanding? Pay now for a March renewal, before the booking fee comes into play 1st January, correct?

I’m pretty sure they won’t allow that. Otherwise everybody could renew in advance and buy many years in advance and nobody would be affected.

Yes I imagine that is the case unfortunately.

My renewal is January 24 :hot_face:

Oh man, that is just about the worst possible scenario when it comes to the fee implementation.

Well if it’s any help, I made you an award.

@Jenny would you please confirm the following:
My plan is the ‘Basic’ tier, and my membership is currently scheduled to renew automatically on January 3, 2026.

If I pay now (or even wait for the automatic renewal), will the new booking fees become applicable next month or next year? If the former, does this require me to contact THS, as mentioned by @giuvax in a prior post, or will the change be executed automatically? Thank you

@idocsteve

Thank you for the award :joy:

Let’s see if I’ll actually pay any booking fees though :upside_down_face:

@Jenny, do you think you could find a moment to confirm (or clarify) the question above? Thank you

Hi @august

You can auto-renew on 3rd January 2026 and the booking fee won’t come into effect until your renewal in 2027 - if you choose to renew at that point.

Hope this helps - sorry for the delay in responding to your previous message.
