WashPost: Storm could engulf 2,000-mile stretch

I gifted this subscription article, so folks should be able to see it.

A heads up not only for those who will be sitting in the zone, but the weather could ripple through many flights as well.

It says: “During the storm’s peak, expected Sunday, around 55 percent of people living in the contiguous United States are forecast to experience snow, sleet or freezing rain at the same time.”

Thanks for providing this link, Maggie. This storm looks to be a real doozy and potentially dangerous, and it’s important that THS and the affected community members are aware.

Thanks for sharing this @Maggie8K  I’ve pinned this topic to the top of this forum category so it can be easily seen.

I can’t read the article, can someone please post the affected locations here? Even a N,E,S,W indication would help.

Is it just me or is it ironic that you posted this in “Fun Stuff”? LOL!!!

Didn’t seem like there was a better place. This category is a catch-all. But Jenny and team can recategorize, of course.

Well, I was being facetious. But, hey, I guess someone could find fun with a snowstorm. I’m a snow grinch, to the max. So I get grumpy at the mere mention. LOL!

I hate snow and prefer it in snow globes.

You raise a good point @Crosswords_and_puzzles - there isn’t really a more appropriate place for things like this to go so “fun stuff” feels like the most logical place!

As a snow fan, it also makes sense to me  though I know plenty of people who aren’t fans

@Maggie8K, thoughtful of you to share. Snow storm, and very cold temperatures, also impacts Canadians.

Hope everyone is ok. As (part) Canadians, we’ve certainly come to respect mother nature.

That said, hope that weather sends some snow to western Canada  - near-zero snow in last month is atypical. Whistler Blackcomb resort recently reported ski visitors 50% below normal. :skis:

I am doing a sit in Toronto which experienced record snow this weekend. So much that the HOs flight was delayed by a day. The sidewalks have been brutal.

Separately in our region, ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. were reporting 50 percent snow (versus typical) last I heard. Then they were expecting warm rain, which was even worse for skiers and snowboarders. Hard on people who earn their livings from snow season.

I’ve just received notice of a flight delay, because an earlier delay rippled into my flight. Probably because snow storm domino effects. One of my hosts says her flight was delayed four hours yesterday. (The two of them are traveling separately from each other.)

Lucky for me, I received notice before I left home, so I’m just relaxing with my dog. And my (non-THS) sit is with cats, who won’t mind the delay.
