I have just read this in a listing:
There’s also a Tanatoria in case one of you pops your clogs
What’s the weirdest attraction or mention that you have seen listed?

Learnt a new word. Thanks.
Had to look up that word and in the US it is shown with the last letter being an o. It says it means funeral home. It is just his sense of humor.
That’s funny. What I learnt was “pop your clogs”. I don’t even know if tanatoria is an English word. I would have expected it to be something like thanatorium as it’s associated with “Thanatos”. It may well be a misspelling for “tanatorio” in Spanish, which is indeed funeral home. The sit is in Spain.
Not weird, but unique: There was a sit bordering a wildlife preserve in Africa (can’t remember which country). So you could be in the (third floor?) apartment and see say an elephant or giraffe.
The listing was two or three years ago. My interest was piqued, but I didn’t apply, because of timing.
I don’t know if I would be able to choose between an apartment with African wildlife viewing and a funeral home. ![]()
Maybe hold out for a listing with both?
That could be convenient, depending on the wildlife…
Maybe hold out for a trifecta: wildlife preserve, emergency room and funeral home in case things don’t work out?
I’m going to guess Nairobi which is the only capitol city in the world with a national park with lions in it and a suburban neighborhood that grew around 3 sides of the park years later, so sometimes the animals just step out.
Sure would be a fascinating sit.
I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing that interesting information.
No, not necessarily. It might be a house located in a wildlife estate, which are very common in and close by Hoedspruit in South Africa. We have rented houses in some of them for holidays. There are large properties with family homes but also condos. The animals are not fenced in but roam freely within the fenced estate.
These pictures were taken from our rented house’s terrace in the Raptor’s view wildlife estate. There’s a waterhole on the property so a lot of animals passed by to drink every day and also during the night.
My Google search came up with a meaning of a sanitarium (mental health). However, the Google meaning of ‘pop a clog’ was it is a reference to dying and pawning the clogs after the death.
What they mean, in a humorous way, is: “there’s a funeral home nearby which comes handy in case one of you dies”
I know it’s intentionally funny but I just find it really weird as an “attraction” and thought other people has surely been surprised by other “attractions”, amenities or features listed.
