This discussion is fascinating because it really shows how different people are and how they can see the world in various ways. Several replies here commented on the detail of instructions. To me, that was not the point at all. I thought it was about tone, but some of you seem to think that tone is completely irrelevant. Which is not meant as a criticism, just as an observation.
Yes I agree with you tone is very important to me - we are not hired help needing a job description! We also have a detailed WG but a “Please” and “thank you” go a long way to make the sitter feel valued 
Yes I agree eg. we have bikes but don’t use them … here are some place to hire bikes, don’t go into the garden shed at all, don’t go into the boys rooms

@RuthS Yes. Mine had instructions what not to eat and drink (pretty much anything) and it actually said not to use their electric heating as it was so expensive. They said to use their fireplace instead, but only left a tiny amount of wood for me. The list goes on.
Best to withdraw your application immediately. There are many types of people in this world and if you don’t feel there is a connection, it’s because there isn’t.
I’d hope hosts would make it clear about their expectations in their online sit request so that people that don’t fit their criteria don’t apply.

I have way less experience than you, but I would cancel that sit. (I will withdraw my application if the HO is sloppy about time …e.g. HO said they would set up a video call during a two-day window; ghosted me instead, then ten days later tried to set up a meeting… ) Having said that, I have almost canceled because HOs appeared to treat me as if I were a teenager, instead of a fully formed, experienced human, but didn’t because it was their first sit… and now those folks are friends. Are they new to TH? Could you reach out and open a conversation about the level of detail and your concerns?
