Hi there, I’m Andy from London. Just making a start with this forum - hoping I’ve done it right. My dachshund, Alfie, also says hello. My question is:- if a sitter backs out at short notice or asks for cash, is it fair, useful or even possible, to indicate this in a review?
Hi Andy and Archie from neighbouring Essex. Sitters shouldn’t ask for cash, nothing to stop them doing so, but it’s not permitted. Also if they wish to cancel they can (you have to cancel them as sitters in order for you to re-list), but this means no review can be left letting potential owners know they have cancelled. Some do so with legitimate reasons, others not. If you feel you have been let down for no good reason I would urge you to email member services and update them. You may be one of many that the sitter has done this to.
Hi @Barny - unfortunately a review can only be left when a sit has been completed.
Thanks for the replies! As I thought, it’s not possible to review a THS for cancelling at short notice. Great forum - thanks again for rapid responses. I will try again to see if I can get a THS who actually turns up.
If they asked for cash and you have a record of the conversation please report them to THS and of course mention the late cancelation assuming it’s without extenuating circumstances.
99% turn up and stay committed to the sit. Do try again @Barny #justabadegg
Hi Andy and Alfie @Barny and welcome to the forum. Sorry that you have had a sitter ask for money and not turn up. As others have said, you can report them to THS. That’s the only way we can try to prevent other hosts being taken advantage of or let down.
Most sitters honour their commitments and rogue sitters can spoil things for all of us.
We’d love to see a photo of Alfie, we love dachshunds!
