He looks like my Mr. Scotch. It’s a universal law, if a cat is on your lap you cannot get up. So hope you sat in a comfortable chair, at least!
I can’t recall how long I sat there like this. It was sort of mindful experience. At a certain point it just stopped raining and I gently pushed her of my lap.

@Felinelover It really is a universal law! I had to move my Walter to answer the door at the weekend and it felt like I’d broken some kind of unspoken rule. I paid the penalty in cat treats.
